  • Note Properties - How to view them in the Piano Roll View? (p.3)

michaelalala - if you do this, any event property that is the SAME for all selected noted will be displayed in the Event Viewer.

If any of the events have more than one value you'll see a little + sign in the relevant box

But yes, you can change them all there as well.

One caveat - if you select a bunch of notes with varying velocities and you want to make them all 100, if the FIRST note in your selection is already 100, it won't work.

Yes! Great Video... +1 for Event Inspector.  I had to rearrange/remove some tabs up top to make it visible, but WELL worth it.

I change note properties far more often than I delete notes, and usually do so during playback. That why I'd like the command to change note properties to be convenient as possible.

Right click was easier/faster than double-click, and didn't have the side effect of playing the note, which is distracting during playback.

I really wish Cakewalk would listen to us old-timers and give us the ability to map mouse-clicks to functions. If they can do it for the keyboard, why can't they do it for the mouse?

Does SonarPlus or another plugin/wrapper allow us to customize mouse behavior?

I think that goes to show why there should be some customisation options. I delete far more than I ever view properties. BTW most properties are viewable by left clicking over the top of the note (where the velocity is adjusted). I think Channel # is the only thing not shown in that pop up.

My MIDI workflow usually involves playing a part in and then deleting all the bum notes Sonar has added. . I can assure you that I'm also a Sonar "old timer" (since Sonar 2) and personally prefer many of the newer methods introduced in X1. I do appreciate others don't but would rather have many of the new methods as options rather than just removed.

I'm with you on this one, Karl.   I rarely have the need to see all of a note's properties in a single dialog.  I really don't delete *that* many notes either, but certainly more so than viewing properties.

The ability to bind left/right mouse button assignments + modifier key would be ideal.

Thanks for the mention, Jlien! Yeah, the Event Inspector is one of the best features in SONAR.

You're welcome Scott. Despite my long association with Event Inspector, I shamefully did not know, until I watched your video, that it is possible to enter "+" and "-" and move clips or change velocity of multiple notes like that (I knew these keys in the qwerty keypad act differently from those in the numeric keypad, but I had never tried them in Event Inspector before). So, thank you very much indeed!

Yeah, the Event Inspector seems to be one of those "hidden" features in SONAR that doesn't get a lot of coverage. I'm glad to hear the video helped!

I tried out the Event Inspector after viewing Scott's video.

I have 2 monitors. My piano roll view is in the left, and track view is on the right. The event inspector is in the track view window, which makes it hard to see or access it while editing in the piano roll. If I could detach the event inspector from the control toolbar, I suppose I could have it float near the piano roll, but I would still have to jump back and forth between where I am editing the note and where I've put the event inspector.

Is there a way to get the event inspector to appear near the note I'm trying to edit?
