I'd like to know if Sonar Platinum 64-bit supports 32-bit plugins.  If so, anyone have any issues with this? Thanks

Hi. I have some 32bit plugins (mostly SONAR's older plugins that are not 64 bit yet). It will open by default in bitbridge, which has been known to cause problems with some 3rd party plugins) plugins (I have not had any issues). There is also J-bridge which supposedly is more stable with more plugins ( I believe that it costs a little). You could try, and just remove the ones that does not work.
All the best.

Zarg71 said it well.  Give jbridge a try.  It has a demo and only costs 15 euros (about $17) and works well.
Good luck!

Many of the commercial plugins that used to be 32-bit only were updated to provide 64-bit versions, as pretty much the entire industry moved to 64-bit processing.

You might find it worthwhile to check on the websites for your remaining 32-bit plugs, to see if the above is indeed the case for them.  If so, wahoo!

If the above is not the case for some of them, then as noted the included BitBridge with Sonar may work well for you - or possibly not - and this will vary from plugin to plugin.  You may also find that the commercially available (and pretty cheap) JBridge will work better for some of the ones that don't get along nicely through the Sonar included BitBridge - again, this will vary from plugin to plugin.

I CAN tell you that many many folks have reported WAY less problems once they moved away from a mixed environment, to where they either updated or replaced or retired their 32-bit plugs and got to a pure or mostly pure 64-bit environment.

You could additionally ALSO install a 32-bit instance of Sonar, which lives quite peacefully alongside also having a 64-bit version of Sonar installed.  You could create tracks/projects in the 32-bit Sonar for when you HAVE to use a 32-bit plugin that just does not work in a 64-bit Sonar.

This definitely the way to go, if you can do it.

The short answer is yes, it does support them.  There is a built-in "bridge" that should allow them to work. Put the 32-bit plugs in a separate folder and include that folder in your VST folder locations in Sonar.

The vast majority should work, but some may give you problems.  If you absolutely refuse to give them up, you can try the jBridge utility mentioned earlier.

bridging 32 bit into a 64 bit DAW uses more resources

Most 32bit ones seem to work.  However, there are exceptions.  I've never been able to get Drum Core 3 to work properly (it crashes every single time you try to close Sonar and will not let you save the project.  X3 Producer.

Try jbridge.... It allowed me to use Kitcore in Sonar X1, X3, and Platinum with no issues.

I ran the demo of jbridge a little while ago and it didn't work for me.  It is possible I didn't set it up correctly, but I was unsuccessful.  Unfortunate considering It is an amazing plugin.
