Thanks again scook.

I was hoping I could get away with something that came with SONAR but I don't think that is going to work for the navigation issues alone so I agree I'll have to go third-party.

I did just download the NadIR manual and it looks like it might be just what I'm looking for! Will give it a try later today.

Another option is to just buy the Red Wirez Big Box package for $125 which comes with all of their cabinet IRs and their IR plugin which they normally sell alone for $49. But man, I don't really need all those options. Good grief I'd never get any recording done sifting through all those 1000+ files searching for "the one!"

I'd like to find an IR of my current favorite speaker... the WGS ET65. I think I saw one out there somewhere.

as said NadIR is good. my favorite is mixIR2 from redwirez. it is not free but only $50, i got it with the redwirez 'bigbox' of cabinet impulses which is $125 and contains a truck load of cabinet impulses, literally hundreds and they are excellent quality, my most favorite cabinet impulses, i have recabinet 4 and 5 and always use the redwirez. mixIR2 allows you to blend or mix multiple ir's, 6 I think, and also the 'bigbox' comes with eq curve ir's from famous units like neve 1073 eq and the like and also resonance curve ir's. all of which you can mix and route within mixir2 and if you like export the resulting ir to a single ir file to use again elsewhere if desired. by far my favorite ir loader and the ir's in the bigbox pack are also my favorites and what i reach for first when wanting a cabinet ir.

So I tried NadIR and it works nicely. I am able to get what I want out of it.... it mixes any two IRs and I can directly navigate the file system to load IRs. Easy to use interface too. And Free... can't forget that! I was having some latency issues with it though. To be fair that might be because I remembered later that I forgot to turn off my WiFi adapter after downloading.

I also tried their tube power amplifier plugin... works kind of nice. A few weeks ago I built a stand-alone preamp that is the same circuit as the JTM45/Bassman (I build my own tube amps.) It sounds pretty decent routing
preamp->poweramp plugin->NadIR->ReMatrix (for reverb). The poweramp plugin lets me adjust presence, resonance, negative feedback level, tube type (6L6, EL34, KT88) and even the bias so you can simulate running them biased really hot without destroying any tubes ;-) Wish it had a 6V6 option, but hey it's pretty nice the way it is. Oh, and it's free too :-)
