Yes Markus's workaround fixes it. Man, Markus, what a great mind you have to come up with this workaround. You can definitely think out of the box - thanks. And thanks Bruce for turning in a bug report.
 
In the mean time in my template, I've put a track folder at the top and put track 1 in it. Fortunately I always use my top track as a dummy track with text info about the song to keep me organized. So it's no big deal to have a folder. I just put my text in the name of the folder.
