Available on Tuesday. Upgrade price from Toraverb 1 is 15 EUR ($17.72).

This is a strange reverb that doesn't sound quite like anything else out there. It's not my go-to reverb by any stretch, but it's what I reach for for those times when I want to draw attention to the reverb as a special effect. A great companion to Devastor on drums. Version 2 adds a ducker, which will be a nice convenience, plus M/S processing.

But is it worth those 18 bucks?
I wonder wonder, wonder wonder.

I just can't get it to sound good so I uninstalled it as I did all the D16 plugs I have. They are just not for me.

Hmm....

I have the original Toraverb.  Bought it for the specific purpose mentioned by Bit.  I wonder if they revamped the coding too, as I find that it sometimes isn't "pronounced" enough.  Also, is the GUI larger and/or resizable like Valhalla's?  If the two concerns of mine are met, then I think it would be worth the upgrade price.  Ducking?  Meh.  That's why we have external-side-chained compressors.

Yes, the GUI is larger. Much larger.

I have all the D16 effects and I agree that none of them are what I'd call best-in-class. The chorus doesn't come close to Ubermod, the distortion plugins aren't in the same class as Saturn, and Toraverb is no substitute for, well, any reverb.

But what they all offer is something that sounds different from any of the alternatives I have in my toolbox. If Toraverb has been gathering dust on your disk drive, give it a try as a gated reverb effect on snares. I also like to put it on the drum distortion bus. It's also very good for recorded-in-the-bathroom type effects.

Thanks, Bit!  I couldn't agree more!  Also, your post makes me want to take a second pass trial on Ubermod.  I like plugs that lead to creativity rather than just for mixing.  Saturn is my go-to distortion for creativity, that's for sure.  I can dial in some weird LFO and envelope modulation and viola, a whole new sound and/or pattern is created.  Awesome!  I recall Ubermod doing some similar-type creative effects.

I used the D-16 Group Delay on Ken's (aka Zargg) voice HERE with very little tweaking. Maybe I could have had the same result with any other delay I have but this was the first time I used this one and was pleased with what I got (and so was Ken).

How can it NOT be worth $18?

I think if you try on everything but electronic music you would be disappointed.  I like the presets.
