Have you tried accessing your projects via RDP on Windows? E.g: Windows 7/8/10? If so what is your experience?

I currently run SPLAT on Windows Server 2012 R2 64.
My decision to run SPLAT on a Server OS was driven by all the issues with updates and configurations with Consumer Windows OS: E.g: Windows 7/8/10. I was also able to run LatencyMon with out making any configurations and the system was cleared to handle audio. With Windows 7 I had to mess with bios and and all the crap.

With that said, I am also able to run my sessions from anywhere without additional software.  All I need to do is RDP into my session, I also love Microsoft RDP App for remote access into my recording sessions from a tablet.

Obviously, you need internet connections/connectivity all the time.

Have you tried this on a regular Windows installation, like Windows 10?

Toontrack, I have never used.

But yes, I currently use all Waves Plugin with Waves Central V9, just Updated to V10.
I am also using Eventide Stereo Room and UltraVerb. FabFilter Pro Q2, IZotope Ozone.
MOTU MIDI Express, Mackie MCU PRO and RME Fireface UFX Plus.

Server OS are designed to run industrial and commercial applications and so this thing can handle some serious tasks, and it uses less than 2GB of Disk Space for OS. Importantly, you can schedule Backup scheduling to multiple external drives.

I love that I can use a laptop and RDP to my session or my Galaxy Tab 12.2 Pro and everything is on a single machine.

I use RDP and similar utilities every day, talking to every version of Windows from XP to W10.
 
But not for music. My guess is that it should be fine, though. All you're sending over the network are video updates, mouse movements and keystrokes, with all the heavy lifting happening on the host machine. That's why it's usually very fast, unless you're trying to do it over an extremely slow network connection. On a 100 MB/s hardwired LAN, it's hard to tell the difference between remote vs. local performance. Shouldn't impact audio at all.
 
I was an XP holdout for a long time. It was stable, so why take on unnecessary complications? In the end, it was a couple of huge Kontakt libraries that forced my migration to 64 bits. The transition was not a walk in the park at first, but eventually I found replacements for all the software that wasn't compatible with W10. (Well, all the music-related software anyway. I still have development tools that won't work under W10, but I run them in an XP VM.)

True, and given your vast and advance knowledge, I am curious. what OS are you running with your DAW?
I know these questions can seem trivial. In fact most people will say, "just try and see what happens?"

The problem is I am always concern about screwing up my configurations, especially when something is working well.

Eventually, I need to move to Windows 10, not as a need but for familiarity, I am thinking I will add CBB on there as a secondary setup. 

It should not be a problem.  The only thing I would make sure is to configure your client to "leave audio at host".  By default, the RDP client plays audio through the guest.  Even if you're only using ASIO you would still want this set.

So if I have Win 10 Pro on my Music PC at home, and want to access it with my Win 10 Pro on my Surface, I just enable remote desktop and I can work on stuff on my  Music PC at home while I am away?

I tried this a while ago but it was not very useful because the audio was not very good quality that got sent.  Is there a way to have the audio from the remote to the client be of better quality?

Not really feasible as the network would be choked by the audio data - even if you have a gigabit network.

It would only really be useful for remote control of your DAW - say from a tablet or something similar.

Also, As I mentioned before, you should leave the audio at the host.
