I grabbed the free Chromaphone demo, and that was big mistake.  Great idea for the song I'm working on, terrible for my wallet.  That thing is awesome!

Ha ha ha! What did I say about AAS GAS? Told ya! Look at my sig below, and you see how bad I got AAS GAS!

Glad you like it!

I've used a glockenspiel from Kontakt and transposed it down and manipulated the formants with Melodyne, worked great.

Soundwise
If you have UVI Digital Synsations, there are some great bells sounds, including tubular bells.

I have only their Retro Strings kit, but really like it. Their offerings are a bit on the, um, focused side, but when they do something, they do it right.

Try Chromaphone 2 by A|A|S. You can demo it for free. Bank "9. Chimes and Bells", Program "22. Platubular Bells". There are a number of other great sounding programs in that bank. The full d/l is only 28 MB. AAS' instruments are all modeled, not sampled. Very expressive. Chromaphone is first rate.

But be careful! If you like it half as much as I do, you'll wind up with AAS GAS! I'm not kidding. I've got all of their instruments except Tassman. But that's only a matter of time.

I have all the AAS products including all their sound banks <also have the brilliant Tassman> and use multiple instances in my recordings. There are interesting 3rd party sound banks out there as well.
I had ten instances in one recording one time, at that point I think I had to freeze 4 tracks because my older i7 processor couldn't keep up <g>.
Since the AAS instruments use physics-based models to generate the sounds, the amount of variations are limitless. Once you find a sound in the presets you like, modify it to your liking and save it as a new preset!
I do use samples now and again but you cannot beat the AAS synths for generating incredible sounds. I never had much interest in Electric Piano before I got the Lounge Lizard from AAS, now - I really enjoy the EP sounds I am able to create.

The VSL Samples are great but since I have the VSL orchestra, I never looked in that area of Kontakt.  This is good information.
