I have a major problem here.  I tried to update to the latest Sonar using the CCC.  It would not load due to the following error message:

I aborted the update and the CCC reverted back to the previous version.  Now I can not run that one either due to this message:

I should note that everything was working fine just minutes prior to trying the updates.  Also I was using my system on-line; the only time I go on-line is to update Sonar.

I tried to search the forums but came up with nothing.  I searched via bing.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanx in advance.

Download the correct package here, and see if that fixes the problem. Looks like you may have had an update not install properly. If your restore points are turned off, I'd turn them on. Either way, create a restore point before you do this install.

Resonant Serpent mentions Restore Points...  they have saved my butt MANY times... set them up and use them.  Makes it so easy to go back to yesterday or the moment before something weird happens... I just used this a couple weeks ago. I try and remember to set a new restore pt. every time I install a new program... takes a minute once u get the hang of it.

It doesn't change user data like songs in progress...

have you used windows update ? (is your computer up to date on updates ?)
make sure it is because new versions are using newer versions of Microsoft's run time library's, visual studio, EXC.

do some updates and im almost certain your issues will be gone.

Thanx to everyone I am back in business.

Since Sonar 5.2 and XP through Win 7 and Sonar's X series and until now with the Platinum series I have been off line and I have not updated.  I see now that I have to change my ways.

I do have back ups but you did save me a lot of time by not installing the latest back up only to find myself in the same situation. Plus thanx for the restore suggestions.  I will start doing that prior to any software installs.

I am an old timer at 70 but I still can learn some new tricks.

Thanx again.

Glad you got it sorted. I learned a lot over the past couple of weeks, and implementing new procedures myself.

I found this thread becaus eI am having the same problem,  I have backed up my system, run windows updates (first time apparently since 3/1/2010)  as my system is also offline all the time.  In any case, I have done that then tried to re-run the install of sonar platinum on my Windows 7 system and still got the same error again (same as the OP).  Any Ideas on where to turn now?

Did you run the updater multiple times? It takes more than a few passes to get it to actually update in full.
