Anyone with an idea to conduct the tempo map with a midi controller?

I see myself more as a musician and composer and less as a painter to draw tempo maps.

That would be cool. Maybe like a theremin.
 
I don't think tempo is exposed to the outside world though.
Maybe someone knows more.

It would be enough to tap the tempo with a normal midi controller, like it's possible in DP for example.
In Sonar I don't see any way to change and record the tempo in real time. Only manual changes by drawing seems possible.

Yes, you can do that by recording a MIDI reference track and then using the Fit To Improvisation function.
 
It's not exactly what you're asking for (which isn't available), but the end result is the same.
