Not sure what to tell you to help you with your denial that X1 is in fact messed up in many ways John.
Perhaps so. However not everything in it is. It helps no one to consistently offer some vague notion about it not being workable in a particular way if you have no evidence that is so.  If you don't know how something is done in this new version please don't attribute that to some bug that is due solely to your bias against it.

Yes it has problems but the real ones are not helped by creating imagined ones. It puts us all at a disadvantage in finding what works and what doesn't.

title says it all.

Split
no matter what tool i select, i can't split a clip. yes, S is bound to Split at Now Time. doesn't work. i hold alt, the clipper comes up, i highlight a section and click or hit S, nothing happens. if i highlight a portion of a clip to split and then press S, it puts a split somewhere else in the clip.
Nudge
i select a clip. i try to nudge a clip using the numeric keypad, 1,4,7,3,6,9, a cross arrowed cursor moves on a track 4 tracks down. with numlock on i get home and end. trying to use process, nudge, left 1, x1 crashes and can't be shut down with task mgr, the computer must be restarted.

i repeated this several times: open a project, select a clip, go to process, nudge, left1, crash, must restart.

any ideas?

Hi, I didn't see if your nudge thing was solved, but it sounds like you went into keyboard navigation mode by accidentally pressing the 0 (zero) key on the keypad. When you press that key, you get a cursor with a crosshair on the screen. Press the zero key again to turn it off. It happened to someone else about a month ago and he eventually figured it out.

stepd, ah, thanks about the 0.

lorney, i'll check to see if nudge is set to musical time.

so, i got split to work, but why make it more complicated than hitting S? makes no sense.

as far as nudge, i'll use the suggestions. but, i can reproduce a crash for nudge from the menu (process: nudge: left 1) crashes every time, and the computer myst be restarted.

I've reached the conclusion I must've downloaded a different version of the program to many others.........

update.

using suggestions here, i got split to work using the alt clipper. even with the S key bound to split, S doesn't work as in 853.

nudge.

i cannot get nudge to work. i reported a bug to CW re: menu process, nudge, left 1 with nudge set to follow snap settings, snap set to move, high, audio zero crossing checked.  crashes every time.

i set nudge to 1,2 3 ticks. no crash, but no nudge. now, with numlock on, track screen scrolls left or right. numlock off, nothing.

Neither split nor nudge is broken or buggy.

From the Known Issues section of the SONAR X1 Readme:

Drag and Drop Dialogue Options and Nudge Settings
Having the Slide Over Old to Make Room option checked in the Editing section of the global Preferences will cause Nudge to improperly function on MIDI data.

If this option is checked, all notes to the right of the nudged MIDI notes will jump to the right with every nudge, regardless of the direction of the nudge.  The amount these notes will jump to the right is determined by the number of notes selection.

It is recommended to those who use Nudge frequently, to keep Slide Over Old to Make Room unchecked, however this option was maintained as it can be useful for those needing that functionality.

Sounds like you're getting into QWERTY Keyboard Editing mode by pressing 0 with the numlock on; see page 383 of the Reference Guide. This mode will override the nudge keybindings.

With or without the Numlock on, you should be able to use Ctrl with the numkeys to nudge. I think this is still a default keybinding in X1, but with all the customizations I've made/imported to X1, I'm not sure.

I already told him that, but maybe he forgot.

Ah, yes. I did a quick scan of the thread before posting, and missed that. Definitely sounds like it's part of the problem.
