I found a nudge bug before I sat X1 down. Many times, if I selected a clip and nudged it left, after the 1st nudge the selection would change so that the beginning of the selection was not at the beginning of the clip, but rather at 00:00:00...  So then, I couldn't nudge any more to the left because the selection was already all the way to the beginning of the project.
So, If I wanted to use nudge left, I had select clip, nudge, select clip, nudge, etc... one nudge at a time. That is one of the reasons X1 is sitting way at the far end of the bench.

i'm not working with midi.

yes, i discovered the 0, and by toggling it on and off and immediately hitting nudge keys, i was then able to get nudge to work as expected. i have no clue why, maybe there's some setting that i have set wrong?

Thank you Thank you Thank you StepD.  I've just been dealing with the same problem.  Nudging did not work and I would get this strange curser thing pop up when I tried.  Press numeric 0 and everything works great.  You saved me hours of frustration.

I posted an issue with Split a few months ago and got a number of responses.  Sometimes Split just quits working and I have to reboot.  Neither scissors nor right click will Split an audio clip.

Maybe not related, but the same thing happens with Cut, Copy, and Paste.  Sometimes they will stop working until I reboot.

Wild idea, but maybe Sonar is losing the clipboard or temporary memory location.  That would definitely break cut/copy/paste and would probably break Split since it probably needs the clipboard: there has to be a copy of the split and unsplit clip in memory during this operation or during Undo.

Not sure what to tell you to help you with your denial that X1 is in fact messed up in many ways John.
Perhaps so. However not everything in it is. It helps no one to consistently offer some vague notion about it not being workable in a particular way if you have no evidence that is so.  If you don't know how something is done in this new version please don't attribute that to some bug that is due solely to your bias against it.

Yes it has problems but the real ones are not helped by creating imagined ones. It puts us all at a disadvantage in finding what works and what doesn't.

I use the split and nudge actions all the time. Never a problem with splitting/nudging - typically I like to use the alt/left mouse click for splitting.

A couple of things I keep in mind when splitting or nudging is whether to use/or don't use snap to... depending on the material where it needs to land. Another is, if I know I need to move a portion of the clip, I make room for the "nudging" by slip editing for some space to work in.

I would never be absolute around who is/is not having problems. However, like FBB said, I must have gotten a different version of Sonar...

I have a simple thought for having a well oiled sonar or any daw session. Keep my computer lean as possible (mine doubles for another business) and use or get a reliable audio device with steady/stable drivers. I've had a delta1010 for the past 10years that just keeps in ticking. My eye is on something RME in the future or perhaps Roland's Octa-Capture when the delta has run its' course.

I've reached the conclusion I must've downloaded a different version of the program to many others.........

Ya, yours is devoid of even the known issues....

Never denied the known issues, God knows I've reported enough of them. Mine is missing some of the user error ones though. The ones it did have got fixed pretty quick once I've learnt how to use it or done a bit of manual reading though.

Besides which, what sort of Fanboi would I be if I admitted there were problems? I'd get sacked.

You are not alone, I've called in with the split tool not working on recent projects (since X1D). One minute it's working as expected, then next NOT. So a work around is to Start a new blank project and then drag your NON-splitting project in via the Browser. Very annoying. Nudge will completely make selected midi disappear. Randomly though. Not consistently.

Hi - I have been having the same problem - the solution below re the zero key fixed both nudge and split.

Hi, I didn't see if your nudge thing was solved, but it sounds like you went into keyboard navigation mode by accidentally pressing the 0 (zero) key on the keypad. When you press that key, you get a cursor with a crosshair on the screen. Press the zero key again to turn it off. It happened to someone else about a month ago and he eventually figured it out.

This thread is 4 years old and references a version of Sonar which has been updated several times.  You might try posting a new thread about your specific issue and include your specific hardware and set up.
