David: I am glad it is working for you. There have been mixed results on the Steinberg forum. For me, I use the WDM driver for the widows stuff and the Asio for the studio  so the sample rate switching could be a problem.
however, Steinberg's claim that they were going to fix the zero monitoring  using multiple units  just never happened. Now they are saying that they are working on the Windows 10 drivers but not delivering. I just don't trust them. When I use Windows 10 I will be buying something like  a RME, a company that actually supports their products longterm.

For me being a long time Wave lab user, the dongle is an asset. I can install Wave lab ( or Cubase)  on any computer and there's no issues. Just plug the dongle in and install the software,, no serial numbers or registering required.
 
It's not as invasive as Sonars on line system once you've set up the dongle. Your computer never needs to be on line again. 
I also use Cubase 5 LE for one thing only. It will load up downloaded midi files and show the pesky PG changes in the event type list so you can clean them out. Sonar often hides PG info. 

I too had issues with the install but managed to slog through it. I really hate the fact that if you install the light Cubase, you can never get rid of it. When I look at programs and features in windows there's a bunch of Steinberg stuff listed as installed but if I try and remove it I'm told that the programs are not accessible. 
 
The interface is great and the reverb plugs included are real nice.

So you have to install software other than the driver and control panel?  Why?
I'm thinking of getting one of these or Komplete Audio 6. I'm seeing conflicting reports on the UR22.

The Cubase 8 lite is optional AFAIK.

I know there was a defect found in an early production run, but they were quickly identified (by serial number) and a free fix offered.  Not aware of any other known issues. 

I think a few are miss reading the post. You do not need to install Cubase. 
It's like printer software.. you really only need the driver. if your dumb enough to install the whole package you'll be looking at 10 new programs and desktop icons for HP or Canon. Instant bloatware.
