  • Is there any reason for not being able to enter nodes on automation line?

Strange thing. Let's say I have automation green line with volume under the track. Under certain conditions which I did not figure out yet, it stops accepting nodes. I want to enter new nodes, I click, click with pencil tool, and it would not enter it- the W red button lights up when I click, but no nodes being created. I have to close the Sonar and reopen it and then it creates nodes on the same track with no problems. Happens over and over on the same session- I already had to restart at least 5 times in 2 hours. Am I doing something to cause it? Thank you.

1 - make sure the edit filter isn't set to clips and that it's addressing the envelope in question
2 - you should never need to activate Write Enable to draw nodes

I agree that the lane automation edit mode leaves a bit to be desired as does the MIDI note copy and paste modes.  These two areas provide the most frustration to me using SONAR. Even if they are working as designed perhaps the design could be tweaked a bit.

The worst mode is PASTING midi clips, if you have paste and the clip doesn't show up in the track that you thought it was to be, it went somewhere unexpected (probably leads to quite a few folks complaining about double notes in midi tracks/clips).  So, in pasting midi if it doesn't show up where I meant it ot, CNTL Z is my best friend.

This is not operator mistake I am talking about. It stops to accept nodes. It must be a glitch that needs to be addressed. It is just me, or anybody else experienced it? Thank you.

Vlad,

I agree that there is a glitch but I also wanted to add my editorial on how un intuitive these couple of editing modes are.

Well- it is hard to enter node some time when it too close. I wish the line was thinner. But it is even harder when it not accepting nodes. What is it- does it depends on what track selected? Why is red W button has a red line over it? Is there a reason it not accepting nodes, or it is a glitch?

You have all the flexibility needed to expand the view to smaller chunks... The ONLY time I've ever had problems adding nodes is when I've switched the drawing tool and forgotten to switch back.

I'm not saying it's just you, but I can enter nodes freely on any part of an existing envelope completely without any issues.

One thing - Try it with Snap to Grid switched off, this might help.

I've never come across this problem before either.

When you say you're trying to add nodes using the "pencil tool", does that mean with the Smart Tool (F5) active?    It's all I use in these cases.

I had to bring this thread up to avoid starting new one. The problem is still present. Out of blue moon I can not enter new nodes. Some time restarting Sonar solves it for a while, some time it does not. When entering new nodes, the W button on the module at the top of the page where Solo and Mute buttons located (not on track but where the transport is) lights up red, it has red line across it. The W button on the track turns red half, and W on take line turns red as well, and node is not entering. This is frustrating- I have to continuously restart Sonar and now even that does not solve it.
