Just upgraded to Melodyne 4 Studio. I try to emulate what I see on the newest video and I can't seem to get it to work. I try to drag the audio to the time line and all I get is the circle with a line through it.

Here's the video:

I've tried it with WAV and mp3 files.

Anyone have any ideas?

I just tried it with an audio file with Sonar Platinum 22.3.0 BUILD 71 with Melodyne Essential 4.0.4.001 and it worked flawlessly as per the video...  (In fact it actually blew me away a bit)

Do you have the latest build of Sonar?

FWIW, there is no such thing as an mp3 file in a SONAR project. When imported into a project, mp3s are converted to wavs. SONAR only works directly with wav and wav64 files. Does Melodyne show up as a Region FX?

Edit: As mentioned above the feature does require SONAR 2016.03 or newer.

It it's probably a groove clip or rex file. We block tempo extraction from them because it's a redundant operation and wouldn't give you better results anyway.
Groove clips always follow sonars tempo.

^^^This should be in the help instead of "any audio clip"

In addition to dragging a Melodyne Region FX clip to the Time Ruler, you can also drag any audio clip to the Time Ruler and SONAR will extract the tempo information using Melodyne and ARA and set the global tempo map for that region.

Sorry guys. Pilot error. Didn't realize I need to update to the newest Sonar build. ...lol

Works perfectly as advertised.

I also experienced the same problem but for a different reason.  I tried to drag a locked clip into the time line.  Unlocking the clip allowed dragging it into the time line.

I think you can drag a (position) locked clip if you hold down ctrl (ie. copy).

Thanks for the suggestion!  Holding down ctrl while dragging the locked clip into the timeline worked well.
