Hi Everyone,

I am running Sonar Professional and recently ran the update and can now no longer play back my older project files.

My interface is a Presonus AudioBox 1818VSL.  I created these files with the interface so im a little confused.  Software and drivers are up to date.

See the attached photo of the error message and my playback settings.

Does anyone know what happened?

Thank you!

Ryan

Updates often change things, like the default sampling rate and/or bit depth. If SONAR is set to one, and the update changes them to another, you'll get this message.
Ensure that those values are the same for both SONAR and the audio interface.

Try switching from ASIO to WMD/KS....my Roland Octa Capture didn't like the new Sonar or some third party drivers.

As Greg implied, this is probably due to a Windows update.

The last Windows update seems to now default it's sound device to people's pro audio interface, but not only that it sets the sample rate to what IT wants rather than what you want. Also as Windows Edge now seems to run at startup, it's basically got it grabbed as soon as you boot up.

You can try setting the default sample rate within Windows to match that of Sonar like Greg suggested, but if you've got an in-built sound device, I'd recommend setting Windows to use that as its default. That way Sonar/CbB has complete control over your Presonus.

Hi All -

I confirmed that my driver settings match that of my AudioBox.  Both are setup at 44.1 kHz and 512 block size.

I also tried the WDM/KS driver for playback and let me hit play but the audio didn't come through, even with the different output  it didn't work.  I would like to stick with ASIO if I can since I think that is the best.  I think. There is a good clue with attempting to use the WDM/KS driver.  See the image below.  I tried the different options and they didn't work.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Ryan

1.  Make sure all other audio devices are disabled globally, including  you internal computed sound card, any SPDIF devices (other than your Audiobox) and any HDMI-fed speakers in your monitor.  Do this in both device manager and in the little Windows mixer app.

2.  Also turn off all windows sounds in Control Panel.

3.  Finally, try changing your religion and praying to a different deity.  You can always switch back if that doesn't work

I see where you verified the sample rate, but did you check what Windows is using for the bit depth? Your SONAR project is at 24 bits. Is Windows also set for 24 bits?
