Hi everyone , I am trying to figure out the best way inside platinum , to set up so that the midi notes of a synth track trigger a xfer lfo tool or volume shaper . Both of these vst are capable of this and I am not sure if I have it set up right ,

Ok what I have done is

1) Inserted a instance of z3ta
2) in plug in manger properties > configure xfer lfo as a synth
3) in z3ta primary > inserted xfer lfo as a soft synth in fx rack

Can anyone please confirm this is the way or is there another way ?

Thankyou

Anyone ? The proper way to route midi to a vst effect in platinum is what I need ?

Thanks

If the plug-in is "MIDI aware" - not all are - click the drop-down menu in the VST header and select Enable MIDI Input.

Hi Anderton ,

Yes it's defiantly midi input and output selected where you said ,

Something is not right though ,or I am missing something here

1) if I add the lfo tool to z3ta primary with midi in and out on > then in xfer select ENV, the blue line stops moving

2) I add xfer as a vst then copy z3ta midi to this new track > then select ENV , THE BLUE LINE IN XFER IS RETRIGGERING AS IT SHOULD . ? Problem here is I can't work out how to get back to z3ta primary from this point ?
Theoretically I thought I could add xfer as a synth which its own midi and primary > then put all the midi notes in the xfer midi track lane > then in z3ta midi tack input select xfer , so now z3ta is receiving midi from xfer, and all should go but it doesn't ?

Unfortunately I haven't used xfer so I have no idea how it works, nor am I exactly sure what it is you want to do. If xfer is processing audio, I assume you would...

  1. Not insert z3ta as a simple instrument track. You want to expose both the audio and MIDI tracks separately.
  2. Insert the LFO in the z3ta's audio track. Set it the plug-in to enable MIDI.
  3. Copy the z3ta's MIDI track to another MIDI track. Set that track's output to the xfer LFO's MIDI input.

3) Copy the z3ta's MIDI track to another MIDI track. Set that track's output to the xfer LFO's MIDI input.

First I have muted everything on my track
1) I inserted a new instance of z3ta as step 1
2) Inserted the xfer lfo on z3ta primary as step 2
3) Copied the midi data to a new midi track ( just below the z3ta midi track ) and selected the lfo as the output , as step 3

Now the lfo is re triggering beautifully , but there is no sound coming through z3ta ?

Are the inputs of both MIDI tracks set to the same source? Are they linked so that changing the output of one changes the output of the other? I'm pretty sure what you want to do is possible.

you are the man again MR ANDERTON , THANKYOU SIR

ITS WORKING PERFECTLY , I ADDED THE MIDI DATA TO THE DUMMY TRACK AND THE Z3TA INSTANCE AND ITS WORKING PERFECTLY ,

SO HAVING A DUMMY TRACK SENDING THE SIGNAL TO THE INPUT OF XFER WAS MY PROBLEM , AND GETTING UP AT 4AM AND TRYING TO SORT THIS WITHOUT A COFFEE ADDED TO THE ISSUE ,

THANKYOU SO MUCH
