  • Offline activation issue for Melodyne

I am unable to activate Melodyne Essential from my recent installation of Sonar Platinum. The registration/activation window pops up whenever I try to use it, so I enter the the serial number then follow the directions for generating an offline activation request, which then returns an error message ("An authorization response file could not be generated, if this error persists please contact Cakewalk Technical Support.") when attempting an offline activation with it on the Cakewalk website.
After multiple attempts with the same results, I contacted Cakewalk Tech Support by phone, left a message, and have heard nothing back from them in three days.

Any suggestions ?

You have to register it through Melodyne.

Edit: and IIRC I think you actually have to have the DAW hooked up to the internet to do so. Not sure about that though.

Melodyne activation is handled by Celemony. They have pretty good support, give them a try.

Thank you for your responses.
This issue is now solved. For anyone else needing help with this, please read on...

Celemony tech support explained that, once generated, move the “ActivationRequestFile” over to the internet-connected computer, where it can then be double-clicked, and a connection to the Celemony server will be established. There you will be offered a license file to download. This license file then needs to be moved back to your offline computer and imported into “Melodyne”.

Heads up: Melodyne 4 cannot be authorized off line. It has to have an iLok. : (

I didn't know this when I purchased an upgrade.

I am running Melodyne 4 without iLok. I believe if you have a dongle there is an option to use

I think you have to either authorize the machine directly OR use an iLok.

Yes, there is an option to authorize the machine. This is what I did. Don't have an iLoK.

Yes. You can hook up your machine to the web, authorize Melodyne, and then disconnect. It doesn't have to be connected all the time.

Sorry about the confusion.

Melodyne started just serial number and code with their CD version (uno), then they moved to offline challenge/response authorization.

Now it's only online or iLok.

I emailed them to ask how to authorize and they told me. I made my feelings clear in no uncertain terms.

Nowhere on their website is this made clear. I would not have upgraded had I known.
