That would make it a little easier to understand the song structure, even if most of the folders are closed (which they usually are in my case - as that's what folders are for).

The same that other DAWs (Cubase, REAPER, ...) display. :)
 
It's probably a cummulated one, i.e. the sum of all the child tracks. That would make most sense.

Not really, as not all tracks in a folder would necessarily be going to the same bus, so a combined waveform would/could be confusing.

I don't think it would be confusing as that's exactly what I'd expect to see. I see tracks that are grouped in a folder - I do not see the busses they may or may not be routed to, so I don't care about that. All I want to see is how much audio is within a folder in a specific section.

Maybe the solid line representing data at the moment could be exchanged for a waveform or midi note display. But it would be very small so that's the reason they decided to display only solid lines i guess...

Before they implement this, the CW programmers maybe should take a fresh look the way waveform displays are currently dealt with. The picture cache is not automatically cleared and often results in no display.
