I'm looking to replace my old studio monitors and wondered if any of you were using the Focal Alpha 80s? Tossing those around with Yamaha HS8s and possibly the KRK VXT8s

I have the VXT8s.

Like anyone who has a pair of good monitors I'll say they are the best, and so on and so forth.

So they are great!

For extra sauce I'll suggest a couple other points. Since they are well utilized in general, other tools may relate to them. Here are two examples. I have the Focusrite VRM Box. There's a selection in there for the VXT8s. Nice to be able to compare the modeling of the monitors in your headphones vs the real monitors while mixing.

I have KRK Headphones as well. Sonarworks Reference (which "calibrates" headphones, or if you pay more, monitors) has KRK standard settings. I use Sonarworks as well. It's convenient how all of it ties together (and sounds great).

hope this does not muddy things, but I've been auditioning the Presonus Sceptre S6s for a couple of weeks now, and I really like them. I have a couple other models I want to listen to - but if I had to make the choice today I'd buy the S6s and be quite happy.

The Yamaha MSP series are, for me, a better buy for the studio.  I've used the 5s in a big studio as secondary speakers and they deliver a good naked sound, not flattering.
