I'm still waiting for Waves to get back to me.  Half of my plugins won't upgrade to v10.  And I don't understand about having to pay to upgrade.  If you pay for the plugin, upgrading them should be free, right?

Johnbee58:  Was going to call them today.

Billy86:  I did the exact same thing.  I clicked the box that said to remove v9 plugins.  I tried the link you supplied, but it doesn't work.

Anyway, very frustrated.  No more Waves plugins for me.

Thanks, everyone!

Went through this V9 to V10 upgrade with a glitch that I solved. After I upgraded my qualifying plug-ins to version 10, I mistakenly made the choice to remove all my version nine plug-ins. What I didn’t realize was that not all my version nine plug-ins qualified to be upgraded to version 10 plug-ins. Therefore, all my version nine plug-ins disappeared. The V10 plugs installed and are working fine.

I reinstalled my missing V9 plugs with the offline installer I downloaded here https://www.waves.com/downloads/v9. It has every legacy plug; you just need the license to activate it on your machine. I suppose I could’ve done it through Waves Central...

Had to re-grab my licenses via Waves Central. Now all is well. Hope that helps.

Having to download a 3GIG file to load a few megs worth of files is absurd.  I tried that method previously but also didn't work for me personally.

Not with the current model, which is crazy.  Basically upgrading half my plugins to 10 meant that half of my plugins on V9 will no longer work.

If the problem is related to v9, I think it is safe to assume they are not going to support us.

I ended up calling Waves.   And the guy did the TeamViewer with me and went through it all.   But I had to pay $200 for half of my plugins that would not upgrade to v10.   That just doesn't seem right.

Anyway, while he was doing whatever he was doing, I asked him if my old v9 plugins would work now.  He said Yes.  They are supposed to upgrade along with everything else IF you have the upgrade plan.   If you don't have it, then they won't upgrade.   They force you to pay; otherwise, what you initially paid for the plugins is just a waste of money.  That's why I went ahead and paid.

So everything works now . . .but at a price.

Thanks for everyone's input!

V9 and V10 can run on the same system, as long as you don't install two versions (V9 and V10) of the same plugin. Each plugin should only be installed in either V9 or V10.
For example: Version 9 of J37 Tape and version 10 of Torque can run on the same system. Version 9 of H-Reverb and version 10 of H-Reverb can't.

You can manage both your V9 and V10 licenses on the Manage Licenses screen in Waves Central.
To learn about managing your Waves licenses, read the Move Licenses article.

Today I decided to remove all my Waves plugins from my laptop. Even for this I was obliged to upgrade Waves Central (what a pain)! First I was irritated whether I could update Waves Central to the new version to do so, because I only have V9 plugins. But an attempt did confirm that the new WC could remove the V9 plugins and so finally I uninstalled that WC, too. Now I am ultimately Waves-free. Fortune favors the brave!

The first version of Sonar I bought was v.4. Should I have expected to receive v.5 through to Platinum for nothing because I bought v.4?

Or to get MS Office free because I bought it back in the 90s when Word was still on v.6?

Wrong.  Read my post above.  I updated my v9 and 10 plugins in one go.  No problems.

Perhaps you don't understand the fact that 99% of the v9 to v10 Waves updates did absolutely nothing, no changes at all.

Yes, those "updates" should be free if updating other plugins will cause the previous versions to cease working.

They just charged the OP $200 to get his paid for plugins to work again.

For me, when all is said and done, I got my V9s that were still in their free update window updated to V10, and my V9s that didn’t qualify are working fine. I just deleted the offline installer and moved on.

I followed the exact route abacab posted links to, above.

Glad it worked for you, doesn't work for everyone, and if it doesn't work the business model is the V9s are not longer supported so they won't help if you don't pay.
