I'm in the same boat.  One of my V9 plugins was no longer covered under the update plan, so when Waves Central prompted me to update to V10, it simply removed the V9 plug and now I'm trying to download the 3.3GB offline installer... their server is going reallly slowww so the download status says 23 hours.  So much for getting any mixing done this week

If you have version 9 plugins can you just continue to use those indefinitely provided they are supported by your Operating System version?
If so, can you also transfer them to a different computer provided it runs a supported O/S?
I wonder how they handle Windows 10 in terms of supported Operating Systems as it changes every 6 months!
It all sounds rather a pain and seemingly that is deliberate.

It isn't that simple.  Waves v9 worked on my machine until I upgraded the others to v10.

Theoretically v9 should work as you suggest, but that has not be the case for some of us.

If you don't want to pay an insane WUP rate, proceed with caution if you own plugs in and out of the plan.

From I've seen some people don't understand how the process works so wrongly removed V9 VSTs that they didn't want to pay to upgrade but there seemingly is a way to reinstall them.
It all sounds a mess and I'm glad I have never drunk their cool aid.

Well this was actually easier to fix than I thought.  After the V9 installer downloaded overnight, I just followed the instructions on their page and my plugs were back in my Cakewalk projects.

No problem with all of my Waves plugins switching over to Version 10.  I just let Central Station take care of it for me. I just installed the new version of Central Station, and logged in. Waves Central Station told me there was an update to Version 10 and installed all of my Waves 10 plugins and removed all of my Waves Version 9 plugins.
The only thing I have left for Version 9 is Waves Studio Rack.

I re-opened Sonar Platinum and all plugins were fine.  I use CBB also, but I don't mix in CBB, I just create in it on another computer and then transfer the session to Sonar Platinum.

If you didn't have any issues updating from v9 to v10 it's probably because you are still covered under the upgrade plan.   If you weren't, it would not upgrade your plugins.

I ended up calling Waves.   And the guy did the TeamViewer with me and went through it all.   But I had to pay $200 for half of my plugins that would not upgrade to v10.   That just doesn't seem right.

Anyway, while he was doing whatever he was doing, I asked him if my old v9 plugins would work now.  He said Yes.  They are supposed to upgrade along with everything else IF you have the upgrade plan.   If you don't have it, then they won't upgrade.   They force you to pay; otherwise, what you initially paid for the plugins is just a waste of money.  That's why I went ahead and paid.

So everything works now . . .but at a price.

Thanks for everyone's input!
Greg

-- and I'm not buying any more Waves plugins.

UAD might be some what the same/expensive, ...So, good to have hardware mutli effects units to send to , and return, Just in case...

And always run a tape deck backup...if tracking magic People playing...just to make sure you capture some of the jam!

As long as you don't uninstall v9 plugins when updating to v10, then everything should work fine.  When I got the delete v9 prompt, and it said all v9 plugins (which would included WUP'd and non WUP'D), I didn't delete v9.  I think people assumed it meant delete v9 plugins that were being updated to v10 and said yes (that was my 1st thought as well).

True greg54,

I keep all of my plugins updated.  If I update my plugins when hey expire, then it's a few dollars here and there.  If I wait until a bunch expire, then its hundreds $$$$  MOOOOLLLLLAAAA.
