I'm trying to run Vegas Pro and Sonar Platinum at the same time.   Every minute on the minute, Sonar pops up the message that "The above Audio/MIDI device was disconnected from your system. ...etc etc Clicking "No" allows Sonar to remember output settings etc etc. "

Clicking makes the dialog go away, but it comes back sixty seconds later.    Very very annoying.

Is there a way to tell Sonar to shut up and stay shut up?

dialog could have a checkbox offering "do not show this again" but that's a feature/change request

I am experiencing the same problems with SPLAT and Mixbus 3! But the fly in my ointment is when I try to open SPLAT after using Mixbus 3 it has totally killed the drivers! They won't even show in the preferences page.
I tried chasing this gremlin with Ben at Harrison but he has had no luck either.
I tried the share drivers box but the problem remains no matter if it is checked or not. If someone out there could lend a hand on this I sure would appreciate it.

Share drivers makes no difference.    The only way I was able to stop the messages was to basically wipe sonar clean of all driver information -- which means I have to remember how to put it all back together, not a good solution.   Even that one ended by Sonar saying, basically, a couple more times:   well, how about we assign these (different spelling of same drivers) as your missing drivers?   Would that work? Huh? Huh?

I always took the approach of keeping Sonar as the only application accessing the ASIO drivers of my audio interface at a time - meaning that if I have another audio application running, such as Windows Media Player or YouTube or whatever, those applications all use the HDMI output to an HDTV I use as a monitor, rather than trying to get at the audio interface's ASIO drivers.

I accomplish that by setting the Windows Default Audio Device to the HDMI output to my HDTV monitor.  A set of PC speakers would also work, or splitting the speaker output from the computer and routing a left and right from that into 2 channels of my audio interface.  Any of these approaches keeps conflict for ASIO drivers from occurring.

Hope that helps,

I user Vegas Pro and SONAR all the time, and don't get "idiot messages." Then again, my first impulse isn't to blame SONAR, because I have the unfair advantage of knowing how this stuff works.

Use Windows' native drivers for both programs. Those drivers are designed not only to share programs, but can even aggregate interfaces. Which Windows driver to use depends on what your interface supports. If you choose Microsoft Sound Mapper for Vegas and MME for SONAR you can't go wrong as long as you're using the same sample rate for both projects.

Bob's advice is the easiest method. I use my Saffire for tracking and the onboard Realtek for ancillary edits/extraneous junk. Saffire is left ASIO for tracking, but driver mode with editting is not as critical (nor using YouTube, etc.) This does require a second set of speakers, and also setting the Realtek as "default" for Windows while both are online so only programs you choose can see the ASIO drivers. If Windows is allowed to "control access" to those ASIO drivers, things get flaky otherwise.
