Turning off Speed Step was probably what fixed it. Reinstalling SONAR probably wasn't necessary, unless it changed some preference. Hope it keeps working for you. Also,I just noticed you have Radeon cards. Check for new drivers and for sure, check out Friday's Tip of the Week for Week 35.

Hi Anderton

Thanks will disable everything there except rme, very nice tips you have there I am going to explore every one of them ,as for the reinstall of sonar the reason I did it first when all this started to happen was because I was on a project doing gating and side chaining , I had about 5 gates and 6 compressors opened on another screen , then all of my screens went black , and then fuzzy and then when it came back platinum was in trouble , none of the buttons in each track were recognisable e.g the solo button was this square with lines in it , same with mostly everything else , I called my wife over and showed her and said something like never seen this wobbly before , that was a Friday a week or 2 ago , and the following Monday I just reinstalled Newbury port over the top of the current installation , from there it's been hell , something on that day either within Windows or sonar failed big time and I have really exausted myself with this because nothing else inside Windows since then has shown any signs of anything wrong , so today is Sunday I am running scans virus scans , and if by next Friday this problem is not fixed then Iam reinstalling Windows and everything else , so Iam am really really hoping that it works next week because I don't want to spend a week reinstalling all my plugins etc

Seriously, check for new Radeon drivers. Now!! I use a Radeon card and some updates have been disasters, others have been fine. And if you install new drivers, you'll have to disable the "HD Audio" drivers all over again.

Hi Anderton ,

I just used amd auto detect and my system already has latest drivers installed !

I have just down loaded win 10 usb flash drive ): I am reluctantly considering repairing win 10 also ! I am opening up my latest saved project and loopback play all day if there is one drop out I am reinstalling win ! Everything worked before that major wobbly and I just want things back to that state.

Do you think a clean install or a repair will refresh all the win files ?

Thanks

I'm not saying it's incorrect, but...I've been told by auto-detect I had the latest drivers, but I didn't. I searched for them manually on the site and found them. In one case it was particularly vexing because "the latest drivers that weren't the latest drivers" were very problematic, but the "latest drivers that really were the latest drivers" solved my problems, and I have not updated since...if it ain't broke, and all that.

Just wondering...did you ever try all the suggestions in Help from the Toast notification about eliminating dropouts? And did you ever find out why DPC was spiking? That almost always means some add-on like wi-fi or a driver is problematic, not Windows or SONAR.

Before doing anything radical, go into Device Manager and turn off anything you don't absolutely need. Also pare down anything that starts up automatically (you really don't need iTunes helper, honest you don't). See what happens.

Ok so you were right, but iam  am not sure whats happening with this amd driver situation so i will explain ,
my current amd 6990m drivers were 15.201.1151.1008 ( these are catalyst drivers)
so i manually downloaded amd catalyst 15.7.1 and whql crimson 16.2.1 win10 >  i installed catalyst and it installed driver 15.200.162.1004 it also said some warnings occured during installation view log> i viewed log and everyhting was success with no errors ! so i have opened device manager and manually checked the driver details and noticed the last 4 driver files of one of the cards the files are not digitally signed ( maybee a minor thing but on the other card all the driver files are signed ?

anyways i am just about to install the crimson edition 15.301.1901 Beta5 160226a (WAHOOOOOOOOOOO !)

ok just installed wants to restart so i will post this before i lose what i have wriiten above

ok back so to continue , So thank you Anderton  as i said you were correct and indeed i know have new updated anmd crimson drivers (:, i am wondering if this will fix the problem .

The latest driver in device manager after that restart is now 15,301.1901.0 , i have checked the driver files and all of both cards are digitally signed and there was no warning like the previous catalyst install which is nice .

on another note during the restart i just had a message pop up saying

the exception breakpoint
0x80000003
0x00000000651CED3B
Plugin Container.exe application error a breakpoint has been reached ??? this message has poped up many times in the past also , not sure what it is but its time to sort it out ! Any ideas ?

Google says it's a Mozilla Firefox file. You could try switching browsers or if you don't need plugins in FF you can disable it (check YT).
