I don't think it's my "job" at all. Obviously I can copy them as needed. I remember some that I've used. But it's a fount of knowledge and kind of a waste to have them completely unorganized. The forum maintainers don't know what interests me specifically, but they do have the power to create a searchable wiki or at least sort and tag the current tips into some kind of database that might help a lot of people.

OK, but let me ask you this: What are they doing now that they should stop doing, so they can organize this thread more to your liking, that is, what is less important than your projected task that they can stop doing to give them the time needed to do yours?

That's kind of a copout. I don't know what fills their day and whatever I may find trivial (CakeTalk TV?) may be really inspiring to someone. I'm only saying that if the tips are considered valuable (and it seems to me they are), it would be helpful to everyone and respectful to Anderton's efforts to create some sort of organization for them. Apparently you feel this is unreasonable and I can't really fathom why.

To be fair to Cakewalk, they have no idea what tip I'm going to post on any given week, let alone what I'll do in the future (and neither do I), so any level of organization would require maintenance. For example if some kind of organization had been established a year ago, it may or may not have been able to accommodate tips about patch points.

My original plan when I was only going to do 31 tips was to archive the collection as a blog post. Frankly, the optimum organization would be to create an eBook with these and other tips, but I don't have the time to do that at the moment, nor are the returns commensurate with the effort required. (My book "The Guitarist's Guide to SONAR" got really good reviews, but I ended up making about $4 an hour - if that - from it.)

However, paring down the current thread to only tips (it really didn't need the posts from the guy complaining how lame Cakewalk was because there was no manual for Rapture online, even though there was) and including an index seems like a decent option. What might improve it would be to come up with a one- or two-line description for each tip in the index to accompany each link. Think that would do the job?

Yeah my intent wasn't to create work for someone but rather that the work you already did would be usable to the fullest extent possible. An index would already be a huge step up!

The very first post in the thread is already 'stickied' and lists every tip as a hyperlink.
Seems to me like the thread already has a pretty good index going -

Although a line or two of descriptive text for the hyperlinks would be nice!

Craig -

Just noticed you went back to your original "Friday's Tip of the Week..." post and added additional descriptions to many of the hyperlinked tips, and cleaned up a bit of the commentary.

You are too kind, sir ~
Thank you!!

I'll add more descriptions, I just ran out of time...they'll all be done eventually. Thanks for appreciating the effort!

Very cool! I do also appreciate your creative titles but for searching/scanning for useful info this is great!
