• SONAR
  • Housekeeping. Should I keep old Cakewalk programme CDs? (p.2)

Those CD/DVD insert pages that go into a normal 3-ring binder are useful. I put all CDs into a few binders and threw away most of the boxes and CD cases and reclaimed a lot of space. Just be sure to get all of the S/N cards, etc. I had an entire box of plastic cases that went to recycling (and those cases are heavier than you think till you have a couple hundred of them).

I have all of mine. I would advise one to hold on to them. I also use them when I install on a new machine I may need to install the various plugins that no longer ship with Sonar.

You gain nothing from discarding them and you may need them in the future.

I think its a law of the universe. Right up there with "what can go wrong will go wrong".

This is not true as you still have your store account page where everything is still saved. For me this goes back to X1LE. The older programs may not be managed by CCC but if my house blew up and I lost everything I will still have everything I ever bought from Cakewalk stored there and easily retrieved.

Some of us go a long way back before X1 and those older versions are not available through the account page.  For example, my account page shows licenses for SONAR 2 XL and 3 as well as pyro 2003 but sadly no downloads for any of these.  It is also missing stuff I own like SONAR 4 for some reason.

Great advice; I did this years ago and the binder sits on the shelf, not taking up much space but is always there.

If you throw something away you think you'll never need, it is gone, and sure enough, you'll need it.

Listen to what the man said.

It's not like a 77 Fender twin that weighs 200lbs and which your old man trips over it when he gets up.
