• SONAR
  • Adjusting Velocities In PRV - how to select lots but only adjust one!?!?!

Hi All

Hopefully a quick easy one

I am editing in Piano Roll View and I want to select a bunch of notes (eg lasso them) and then adjust the velocity bars individually

I can select the notes and see all the bars selected but if I move one they all change (which is expected as they are all selected)

But I thought there was a modifier key to press so that I can still see them all selected and be able to adjust them one at a time

I have tried ALT (which I think it used to be) but I get "drag quantize strength"

Other combinations of SHIFT, CTRL etc. don't seem to work but I am sure I managed it a few times by fluke

What is the right key(s) as I am sure it is a simple thing?

Thanks

Boydie

Why do you want to do that instead of just selecting them individually?

So I can see all the tails and how they relate to each other - I only like to see the ones I have selected

I have discovered that you can "draw" the velocities by drawing over the bars but it would be nice to adjust them individually

CTRL+Drag the velocity seems to work the way you want, for me at least.  Select the notes you're interested in (velocity bars pop up for those notes), and CTRL+Drag the velocities of the notes you'd like one at a time.

EDIT: OK, that may not work after all.  While it will work sometimes, other times it seems to drag some (but not all) "random" notes with it.  I can't easily see how Sonar chooses which notes may or may not follow.  Interesting ...

Yeah, I am sure that is what was happening to me

It seems just drawing across the velocity columns is the best way to go for what I want to achieve

If no notes are selected, you can drag individual velocities up or down. Just hover near the top until you get an up/down arrow.

*just make sure Smart Tool is selected.

I also want to be able to do it. It would be a great help when editing, say, only the velocities of hi-hats in a hard quantized drum track.

This sounds more like a job for "Select > By filter..."

Just hover near the top until you get an up/down arrow.

Please don't encourage hovering.      The stupid program has far too much wave around the mouse and wait already.       Or move the mouse and unintentionally catch something that thought you were winking at it.
