Trying to get Cakewalk Sonar 8.5 to recognize Kontakt 5. Apparently I need to use "Edit>Preferences", but that menu choice does not appear. Frustrating.

No its options in 8.5.

Thanks for your (very prompt) reply. I have now found the dialog box where you can tell Sonar where to look for VST plugins.

But ...

After several tries I can't seem to get it to recognize Kontakt (and the rest of the plugins that came with Komplete 10). The problem is most likely that I have not yet pointed Sonar to the proper folder. But the three I tried sure seemed like good candidates. I assume I'm looking for the plugins themselves, not the thousands of individual samples. Can I assume that I don't need to drill down all the way to the lowest level of subfolder?

I'm at work now but I may give it another shot tonight.

Pointing at the parent folder will cover the sub-folders within it.
Do a search for Kontakt*.dll on your computer and you'll find what folder that they're in...

Some plugins in 8.5 couldn't be in a subfolder. This was a limitation of Sonar 8.5. They needed to be in the VST root folder.

And be sure you're pointing to the Kontakt plugin itself, aka, the *.dll that Bob referred to, and not the Kontakt instruments.  Those are what you load once Kontakt is instantiated in SONAR.
