So, I just installed the legacy drivers and no

Dang! For me the legacy drivers were the silver bullet! Win 10 drivers would not even talk to the presonus, it didn't even see the mixer.

It'll be odd if it turns out to be the legacy driver - maybe he has motherboard-based Firewire ports?

That wasn't it, but if it had been I would not have been surprised. I have four PCs at home with TI based firewire cards and all of them only work with the Legacy driver. If I use the Windows 10 driver I cannot get them to transfer video without dropouts. It always seems to be a crapshoot.

Hmm...FWIW - device manager here reports that the SIIG card I'm using has a VIA OHCI Host Controller.

Apparently, it's using the stock Microsoft Windows provided driver, version 10.0.10586.0, dated 6/21/2006.

Hmmm ... If you managed to get the Legacy Driver installed correctly then the Control Panel's IEEE 1394 Host Controllers section should have "1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)" as the device, there would no longer be a mention of VIA.

It would be helpful if the OP went into device manager and pulled up which driver his system reports it's using.
