In my opinion Playlist should not let you do any edits to the projects,that should solve all the small problems.
I do not use the real project in playlist,I use the mixed wavefile plus a midi track for lyrics,one track for vocals with eq dynamics and reverb on pro channel for real time effects and another track for guitar with TH2 in it.

Hmmm -  except that it is pretty handy to be able to tweak mixes on the fly. 

You are using live inputs?  I wonder if that is the issue. I use real time fx on 24 recorded tracks + midi, but no live inputs. Try making a few temp projects with just wave files in them and see if the playlist still doesn't close the projects. 

Yes i`m using live inputs that is the main reason i`m using sonar to do just that,no mixer no effect pedals to carry everyday.Playlist is working as it should it closes projects when it is enabled.The only projects that dont close is because that some plugins they do not see automation as part of the project they report a change to sonar so the asterics(next to the title) appears as the automated changes happen in certain plugins.

Sorry metalstudio -  I mistook your post for you Joden who is having trouble with projects not closing. At least we know live inputs aren't his problem:) 
Cool idea not carrying any gear.  I'm not quite brave enough to run real-time Iive input fx at gigs - kudos for the balls out approach dude!

Thanks Bruce I will check that out - re Prochannel. I do use it for a few songs. So I will try Playlist again with no PRo-channel..although not sure what I'll do if I have to remove it...put the effects in track EFX I guess haha!

Not the pro channel on its own Joden - it is fine.  The issue I had was saving fx from the fx bin (specifically breverb) as part of a pro channel fx chain preset and then inserting that preset into a project. Every time the playlist started  to play the project it would register the file as changed with an asterisks next to its name on the project window title. This stops the playlist from closing projects. You were not getting asterisks though we're you?

I just upgraded to Sonar Platinum. I will be using the playlist for live applications. I want to incorporate a Bluetooth peddle for start and stop. The peddle works fine for the first song, but nothing after the second song starts. I believe this is because the previously played songs are still open. Any help would truly be appreciated.

I have yet to find a remote solution that will work with the playlst. They all seem to have trouble with the confirm dialogue when using the wait for keypress function. I ended up adapting a pc keyboard by putting in an rca socket wired to the space bar contacts, then plugged an open circuit footswitch into that. 
 
I too would love to hear from anyone using a wireless footswitch successfully with the play list.
