I'm not sure if I should install Melodyne because AVG says it's a threat. I had an earlier version with no issues. Any thoughts?

Personally, I only download software from the vendors website.  If you have downloaded Melodyne directly from http://celemony.com/ and AVG is saying it's a threat, then this would be a false positive.  If, after updating AVG's definitions and it still flags Melodyne as a threat, you should contact AVG about this to let them know.

If Melodyne was actually infected with a real threat, then I am sure this forum would be lit up like a Christmas tree with people complaining.

If it's Melodyne 4 it just might crash your Sonar! <ba-doom-crash!>

Hi. I have installed Melodyne 4, and have had no issues whatsoever. But it did go to demo mode after the install. A reboot fixed that. Sorry to be of no more help.
All the best.
Edit: upgraded from version 2,and it is the version that ships with SONAR.

AVG has increasingly gotten more intrusive and flaky as it's gone along. I'm in the process of getting it off all of my machines and putting in something better. I'm hearing good reports about Avira these days.

At one time AVG was on Sonar support's list of Anti-virus programs to avoid as they could or potentially could interfere with Sonar.

I've used the free (and built into Win 10) Microsoft Defender (used to be called Security Essentials) for years and have not had any security issues or issues with Sonar that could potentially be related to security software.

Melodyne 4 is not flagged as a threat by Windows Defender.

I dropped Norton and went to AVG. Then dropped AVG and went to Avast!. Then dropped Avast! and am now using Webroot Secure Anywhere. All of the others became more and more bloated and intrusive over time.
