Arranger updates. I'm sure they meant to announce that but just forgot 😉

I thing a thousand of us are hoping that too... same for console folders and template colors...

The "Feedback Portal" is also a great idea.

More than anything, I like the fact that there appear to be a focus on quality and core product improvement.

I would encourage CW to also start a discussion regarding which plugins (such as legacy instruments and FX) can be discontinued in lieu of fewer and better plugins.

Oh and plus 1000 for the Arranger track thingy.

Well in the spirit of pre-announcing things ...while you're waiting, check out the next "Friday's Tip of the Week." It shows how with one click+drag and one right-click+select, you can separate sections of a song into blocks you can then move around to change the arrangement.

The week after that, I'll show how to create a simple scratchpad in SONAR which can have its own tempo, processing, looping, etc. It's real handy when you want to drag a verse or whatever over to the scratchpad, mess around with it without disturbing what's going on the main song, then bring it back in (or not, your choice).

I for one eagerly await seeing this.

'Next Fridays Tip of the Week' is that tomorrow, or the 22nd ? I guess there is no chance of combining the 2 ?

2 weeks (if it's 22nd), that's a long time to be hanging

Thanks Cakewalk, and thanks Craig. Wonder if the Song arrangement tip is the one I use?

and apparently the upgrade from Editor 2/3 to Studio is $149 now.  Seems like a $50 no brainer.

I think there's a question whether Essential 4 will conflict with Editor 2 or not, if it is installed.

Damn... Celemony changed their upgrading schema somewhere along the way. The upgrade to Melodyne 4 Studio from "Any Editor" version is $149. I never really checked out that version before (since I assumed it kept the pitch/timing focus), but 1) it is a standalone "DAW" (i.e., can record into it) and 2) it has tempo control features that make AudioSnap look pale. It will pull a tempo map from an entire session and allow tweaking or importing back into another DAW. Gives a whole new definition to "easy peasy."

New feature video is here for those interested (especially if you upgraded to Editor 2 during the X3 days).

Here the promises are basically UI updates and updates to two 3rd party add ons.  The little I've seen on Melodyne 4, makes me wonder how much the barebones Essential version actually gets.  The more interesting Mulit-Track stuff they are adding doesn't seem like it would really apply to the monophonic version.

I'm sure they will offer more....I'm just a bit curious what kind of "major" updates they have in store.

If they said, here is what we expect Q1, that might be different.  Interested to see what he bigger carrots are.

Obviously once we deliver these features there will be others. We don't believe in vaporware so we're only announcing features that are actually in development currently. There are some other deep features that will be announced later on.
Also this hardly qualifies as "basically a UI update". It may not be that obvious from the feature descriptions, but the browser will be a humongous update in itself - its a brand new predictive way of working with content, plugins and instruments which will be a huge workflow upgrade in itself, for both experienced users as well as novices.
The add track feature might seem small, but once you use it you won't want to go back to the old way since its way faster.
These are all solid workflow enhancement features that will benefit all users.

Are we only going to see spring, summer, fall and winter updates this year?  Or will it still remain a monthly thing?   Just wondering... :)

No change from last year. We plan on having close to monthly drops. Some releases may have features some may have fixes and optimizations. Features will come online as they are available. We're working on some pretty big things so it might be a few months before they are ready for consumption, but other smaller features will come online earlier.

I, for one Noel, don't understand how you remain so calm...lol.

Regards,
Dan

I wish Cakewalk would update the sonitus plugins to be VST 3 64bit - they were great plug ins!
