Assessing whether I want to go with the rolling update with SPlat.....

Addictive Drums website states they only do online machine installations.  I run an offline machine.

Anyone else see this?  Is there a offline licensing solution for AD that I missed?

AD2 and newer versions of AD require an internet connection to install. Old versions of AD could be installed without an internet connection.

On the upside, AD2 itself is very stable and requires almost no updating. If you can manage to be online only the one time you'll be ok.

Not sure about Sonar itself though.

Whelp.  OK.  Thanks guys.  That's kind of a SPlat buzz kill.
Not dragging my machine up to plug it in to the interwebs.  :/

I don't know what "dragging it up" means but maybe a USB wifi dongle is an option? Honestly updates are pretty frequent nowadays, it's only gonna get harder staying offline, unless you don't mind having a permanently outdated system. But then you don't really need to update to Platinum either, X3 was pretty good.

Ya.  Sorry.... my [offline] machine in the basement.
love my X3.  very stable.  Installed Sonar platinum and liked, but I was hoping for a drum "upgrade" of sorts....  Just gonna sit tight on X3 I think.  See also that I missed the $99 offer from Cakewalk.  Guessing I dropped of their mailing list.  Ah, well.

Things just might not be aligning very well.

I don't use AD for this reason.

Also, I understand you are stuck with the samples supplied and cannot add your own.
Is this correct?

Anyway, there's so much drum software out there, even free stuff, so it's no loss.

I do what Sanderxpander suggested and use a USB wireless adapater - plug it in, turn it on, instant internet connection.   When complete turn it off and disconnect - no more internet connection.

I understand the desire to remain offline, but it really is a convenient means to an end; more and more software is becoming tied to an internet connection so it's nice to have that ability if and when needed.    FWIW, my DAW has only been online for a little over a year now because my studio is in a spare bedroom and nowhere near a physical connection.

This is exactly what I do with my DAW. It takes away all the pain of trying to download to a different computer, transfer files, get authorisation codes etc.
And like you said, when you've done, disconnect and unplug the dongle.
