  • Audio driver issues between Platinum and Mixbus!

I asked this question a while back and never got a response so I am asking for help again on an issue that is driving me up the wall!
I can use Platinum with my 2 Roland Studio-Captures until the cows come home with no issues at all. THEN, I jump over to Mixbus to work in there for a while. Now here is the problem. If I leave Mixbus and go back to Platinum, my Roland drivers are GONE!!! COMPLETELY GONE!!! Disappeared, vanished! And that is not the worst of it!
In order to get Platinum running again I have to uninstall the Roland drivers, run CCleaner to clean out the registry of any little niggles left behind, jump over to Microsoft, redownload and reinstall the Roland drivers. After the reinstall everything is back to normal with Platinum until I use Mixbus again and it starts all over!!!
BTW, before I uninstalled the Roland drivers I checked and Mixbus is dead, Platinum is dead, but I can still hear music or audio on videos just as if nothing happened. It seems to be just those two programs. Once one uses the driver with Platinum all is well. It is just when I go over to Mixbus all %^$& breaks loose!
Can someone PLEASE tell me if there is a setting I am overlooking in Platinum, Mixbus, or Windows itself that will allow these two programs to get along? Thanks, fellas! I appreciate the help.

PLEASE! Somebody must know of some settings I can start looking at. I have suspicions that it is a Windows setting that I just haven't known about. As long as I use Platinum everything is great. If I try to use any other DAW I lose my drivers in Platinum! Surely someone can help me with this.

I have had trouble with Mixbus and audio drivers. No other DAW is as problematic as Mixbus in this regard. At least none that I have. I haven't had to go into the registry about it just reboot. I don't trust Mixbus 3 at this point.

Sonar has no trouble at all and is the easiest to setup of all the DAWs I have.

Platinum is my #1 DAW and always will be! I just like to master and do live recording in Mixbus. I agree I have never had so much trouble with the Studio-Captures and Sonar and Mixbus getting along. It has to be the crappy Roland drivers! I am running the same audio programs on a Toshiba laptop with a very old Focusrite Saffire interface and have absolutely no problems whatsoever. I am talking now with Harrison about how to figure this out and they are being very helpful. The early versions of Mixbus never gave me any problems but since Mixbus 3 first came out it seems it started.
Anyway, thanks, John. You have been a great deal of help for a while around here.

Hello,
I use an Octa-Capture with MB 3.2 with no issues.
When using MB 3.2, I MUST select "Use Buffered I/O or MB 3.2 crashes!
If using an earlier 3.x version select "PortAudio/No Callback".
Give it a try if you haven't already.

I fully trust Mixbus 3.2, Studio One 3.2, Reaper 5.x and SONAR since they all work perfectly with my RME UFX in ASIO mode even if I change buffer size between DAW usage under Win10 64bit.

Mixbus 3.2 is at it's most stable for me right now.

I tried the buffer button and still have the same issue. The only way I can get everything working without causing havoc is to set Sonar to ASIO and everything else to directsound or mme so they don't crash the drivers in Sonar. Then I use the other programs before I open Sonar and set them to ASIO to work on a project but I will have to reboot to use Sonar afterwards! PITA!
Sonar just gets mad and throws the drivers away when I try to use any other audio program it seems. Everything runs fine on my Toshiba laptop with the old Focusrite Saffire 6 USB but the Rolands just will not coexist with some programs on the desktop.
I looked online and there was some info about ASIO multi-client software. Should I go down that road you think?

IS it perhaps the use of two linked interfaces that's causing the problem?
My Steinberg has no trouble bouncing between programs, although my Quad Capture used to. I use my audio interface for all windows audio.
I have the "share audio drivers" option unchecked in my preferences.

sidroe, did you see this thread?

http://mixbus.harrisonconsoles.com/forum/thread-2357.html

Long story short, the answer is on page 2 in the last 10 or so posts.

The key in that thread is Use Buffered IO option in Mixbus 3.2.

Maybe that will help you?

Thanks, Bapu but I have tried that and still no love. Ampfixer, that has crossed my mind but when I use just mixbus it gives me all 32 ins and 20 outs for live recording. Everything works fine until I go back to Sonar. Drivers are gone.
