Sorry, just noticed this thread is still going. Did you try to rename your normal.cwt template file, which will force Sonar to use a default virgin system template. Could be that your template is hosed, and using the system default will let you know one way or the other.

That's a good suggestion too.

I just did the simple test of entering quarter notes into the Staff View in X2, using a Snap Setting of 1/4. The Snap Intensity is one less than Extreme. These are the values I get after entering four quarter notes in measure 2: 2:01:000 2:01:994 2:03:010 2:03:950 This is not what I expected. I never noticed this effect before, but it does explain why I was always editing individual note timing.

That's so weird. It works 100% of the time here.

What is your snap setting? I normally set mine on 1/16 but I did the above test at 1/4 to see what would happen.

I'm sad to see that Snap is still such a problem for the X series. Hopefully, these bugs/unintuitive behaviors/difficulties are finally squashed soon!

Thanks for the tip--tried this, but it's not the Normal template either.

FWIW, I contacted Cakewalk tech support, and the guy I spoke with was able to repro this problem too (so it's not just me!). He mentioned something about view-specific snap settings, where the bug could be that the UI component might not be updating the right snap setting for the shown view.

For those of you that 1/4 note snap works for, can you try changing the snap setting to something else like 1/8 notes and check if Staff View respects that?

All snap settings are working for me. I can't reproduce what you're seeing so far.

I was thinking it might be OS-related, but another poster had no trouble and they are running the same as I am - Win 7 64-bit. Puzzle.

I ran across this link, which is part of some online help available for X2

(yes there is a space between "SONAR" and "X2" in the link, so copy what is between the double quotes into your browser):

" http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR X2&Lang=EN&Req=Notation.09.html#1106771"

I don't know if this is stated exactly like this in the X2 manual and I don't want to be a knob, but I wonder if all who are trying to insert 4 quarter notes in succession follow these instructions to the letter could do so, and report back their OS, what bit version of the OS, and their build of X2 and the bit version, we could get closer to where the problem lies.

I'm on X1 Expanded , and I'm going to try this when I get home.

If there are problems in X2 with this simple exercise, I will not be upgrading until this and other report bugs are resolved.

Thanks in advance.
