Can you post a link to one of the dump files? I'll take a look. Vsampler is ancient and buggy - its not impossible that its causing a crash by corrupting memory.

since New update latest newbury> crash >crash> crash >crash> crash> crash> crash >minidumps more crashes  fault reports bla bla , same big project working on for 6months has seen all updates as they come in >this update is definatly a crasher

come on cakewalk

As tenfoot (Bruce) implied, it's your system, not CW.  I suggest reinstalling your interface drivers or even Sonar.  If that doesn't work, then roll back to the last version of Sonar that worked for you.

Hi Noel...

I wish I could, but these crashes were so nasty that they wouldn't allow easy exit.... There was no cakewalk generated info...

I've been using Vsampler throughout all the updates since Gigastudio stopped... VSampler is the only player I have that can play my best bass samples (Will Lee made a set for Giga)... I know there are now 64bit plugins that claim Giga file loading, but I can't afford to buy any... So I'm trapped as the difference in these sample-instruments is too profound for me to give up... and again I would wonder why it is suddenly causing more trouble than I'm already used to... Yes, it culd be more incompatible with this update for some reason...

I'm not really complaining... or even claiming that these crashes are due to Sonar itself... My post was really asking if anyone else was experiencing such... Though I check the forums many times every day, I miss many things.... :-)

Hi Gang...

I think I must have overstated (?) my quandry...

My system is perfectly stable and all is up to date (well, there are a number of windows7 updates I have not applied)...

I was just very surprised to have these crashes during a session last week... Everything has been fine over all...

These crashes all started/ended within a 2 hour span, so I was only posting to see if there was some issue with the latest update... Not accusing, only asking...

I have not had a repeat of this since, but then again I haven't been working on that particular project either...

Many thanks for all the good ideas and support... I believe I have that friend returning this week and will again be working on that project thinking it may be project related and I will continue to search for something unusual in that project....

Hi taccess.  You still haven't posted any details about your system (OS,  specs,  interface)  or the conditions under which the problem happens (plugins etc) All we know is that you have experienced crashes so it is near impossible to offer anything beyond the most general advice like update system drivers,  audio drivers and reinstall Sonar, all of which I am sure you already know.

Post a link to the dumps and we can look at them. You wont be able to make much sense of the files yourself.

Hey guys,

specs are
m18x 2960xm / dual 6990m cards/ laptop plus dual 23.6 inch monitors
32 GB 1866 hyper x
win 10
baby face audio interface
i turned my internet off yesterday and only one crash right at end of day.

Anyways i have installed visual studio but i need to re install it , when sonar crashed yesterday it asked if i want to debug it , which is great , however i need to reinstall visual studio first, as it did not install properly. Hence unable to debug!

I will let you know once i have this sorted but i am sure it is like you said probably a plugin or driver, i did see there is no buzzers going off on this so i am a little busy over the next month but will report back once i know, i am eager to understand this debugging, so i will do some research also.

thanks

Cool Taccess. Wireless network drivers can be problematic.  I see you are running an RME audio driver -  given their stability (provided it is the latest version)  I would certainly start with the dual video drivers and then the plugins.

OK,
so i have shut wireless of and have had 1 crash since ( i have also noticed with sonar and windows 10 ,if the mouse turns to a blue circle ( which means the computer is doing stuff ) its best not click on anything> now within 30 sec every time this occurs sonar is back >

i just want to add despite what i posted above , this seems to be one of my favorite updates since Kingston , very stable and handles big projects much much better than any previous update , Thanks Cakewalk
