We use busses so that the drums don't go through the master bus, so need precision on the master volume fader, but it's so hard to work with. Why can't you either make it larger, or so that you can input the exact value?
You don't need to type, hold
Shift while moving any fader and you can adjust in
0.1 dB increments. This is the limit of the fader resolution so you couldn't type in a more precise value anyway.
Although you didn't ask about this specifically, one of my favorite "fader features" happens when you right-click and choose a start value, end value, and/or "snap-to" value. The latter is great. Once you find a nominal position for a fader, specify it as the snap-to value. I do this whenever the faders have been set to their reference mix levels. Then no matter what you do with the fader while experimenting, you can always double-click on the fader to return to the nominal value. I also find this handy with automation when I want an instant jump back to a nominal value after writing automation moves.
Start and End are useful when you're grouping.
