I didn't have much problem with X1 either, but Platinum is definitely better, and with more features.

I haven't posted or visited here for quite awhile. I had given up using my studio for the last 4-5 years. Many of the reasons were due to X1 Producer. We did not get along very well. I've used analog tape, digital tape and then every version of Cakewalk from Pro-Audio 8 to Sonar 8.5. Even upgrading to X1 Expanded was a disappointment. I did not really experience many crashes, it was just difficult to find what I was looking for quickly. I never liked the sound of it either. It didn't seem to have a lot of clarity so I didn't bother with X2 or X3. I even considered switching to a different brand of DAW.

A month ago, I decided to upgrade to a new computer, Windows 10, 6th gen i7, 16 gig ram, 2 1TB HD's, updated audio interface card and Platinum. As much difficulty as I had with X1, Platinum is just a breeze to use. I know it's layout is similar, but everything is so intuitive with Platinum. My outboard gear isn't anything from this century and I suspected a lot of the sound quality issues may be due to that. I'm using a MOTU 2408MkII connected via TDIF to 2 Tascam TM-D4000 mixers. Monitors are Yamaha MPS-6 with a sub. But with Platinum the difference in sound quality is amazing. The best way to explain is that X1 sound seemed muddy and Platinum is crisp and clear. I've had a couple of odd lockups, one where I had to restart Platinum and one that I had to re-boot the computer. Overall, very happy I upgraded. I too, would recommend using the trial version to see what you think. I couldn't because of the old XP computer. Since I had to buy a new computer, what was another $200 for the upgrade at that point?

FWIW I definitely find Platinum more stable than X3e.....

Same here.  There were a lot of fixes between X3e and Plat.  I think there's a sense of Plat being more buggy for some folks because of the contant updates (bringing new dodgy behavior).  The trick for many of us was to find an update that is overall stable for you and stick with it.  In any case, where I am now (Plat - Lexington) is way more stable than X3e ever was.

Yes, By Far.  Beyond way more stable than X1.

Better, stronger, faster, like the Bionic Man. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology...

And yes, in my experience, more stable too. Maybe even more stable than Lee Majors! (I'm sure he's a great guy, but he has been married 4 times. Mind you, one wife was Farrah Fawcett, and another was a Playboy Playmate, so there's that. The things Wikipedia can tell you in 4 seconds!)
