I have a pair of JBL LSR 308 monitors.  The room is tiny at 5'x 12'.  Here is a picture of the room and speakers:

Each speaker has a LF Trim and HF Trim.  I think they're like high and low pass filters.  They offer 3 trim settings:-2db, 0, and +2db for each of the LF and HF.  Looking at my studio and speakers, where do you think would be the best place to set these?  Currently I have each set at +2 for LF and -2  for HF.  Please note, the speakers CANNOT be moved back further or further apart.

well it sounds like you already know that this is not the ideal room space for mixing or recording. 
 
I think the high and low trim on the speakers won't really help you much in that room on any of the available settings.set them at 0dB and just work with what you've got until you are able to get a better room.   you'll have to learn to translate what you have into what you want by comparing your mixes in this room with mixes of songs you want your songs to sound like.
 

I  have the LSR308's in my home studio.  Its basically an open room with standard painted drywall walls and ceiling and a couple windows.  Probably not a desired situation but it works for me.  I have the low set at +2 and High at 0.  I can't tell you why I have them set that way, don't remember ever setting them.  But I get great mixes with them.  I used to have Samson Resolv 6.5a speakers and had problems with the bass/low end on mixes.  It would take several (many) mixes to get the bass right.  With the 308's I hit the low end mix usually on the first stab.  
 
I bought the LSR308's over the LSR305's because of my bass issues.

Beagle-You assume that I will someday in the future be able to obtain a better room.  Not in this lifetime, I'm afraid.    Steely Dan doesn't sound too bad in here.

The Aurelex panels.  Before I ordered them 2 years ago I sent Aurelex all the details of my room and they sent a blueprint of how I should place them.  Also, recently I bought and ran ARC 2.  (I guess that doesn't carry much weight around here though).   Now, do you think I'm wasting my time and money on home recording?  Because if you are, I might as well quit now.  Getting a bigger room is out of the question.  This is all I have so I need advise to make the most of what I have.  Actually, I was just all over that in a previous thread.  All I need to know at this point is where to set those setting.

the room wizard can still help you dial in exactly the best positions for the gear and room you currently have and use.

I agree - use what you have!  just learn to translate from similar music.

I'm sorry if it seems like I was coming down on anybody here or have an attitude.  I just wanted to make it clear that I cannot possibly improve my room situation.  I wish I could.  As far as recording, I use virtual instruments.  There is no way I could even think about putting something like a drum kit in there, so the acoustic factor in recording only applies to vocals.  But the mix environment is obviously effected by the room and that's what I'm trying to improve.  I'm sincerely grateful to all who take the time to advise me.
