I had all of Mason Proffit's albums back in the day. Earl Scruggs once said that their banjo player (John Micheal Talbot who later become a Franciscan Monk who wrote a lot of famous liturgical music) was the best he ever heard. It was the last minute or so of this song in particular that made me realize a banjo has a greater purpose than just being used for Bluegrass:

She has arrived. It's Walnut, not Cherry. Very few scratches especially for a 47 year old bass.



I had what was basically the six string guitar version of that called the SG-200. The basses might have been okay, but the guitar was horrible. Undoubtedly the worst guitar to ever have the Gibson name on it up till that time. To make matters worse, mine had a warped neck.

That looks like a FrankenSG to me. Just sayin' that's gawdawfulfuggly.

That dark brown color couldn't look any worse. I hated that guitar.
