My friend is attempting to install CbBL on his laptop thru the BandLab manager. He selected to install the software, the instruments and Melodyne.
For some reason though, it looks like the process hangs up when the manager says "3/3". I didn't have this issue and he's in a remote location so I can't say for certain what might be happening... anyone know what the underlying cause might be and whether there's a fix?

Sounds like a common theme throughout the forum.
 
I have a super fast comcast cable connection and it happened to me about a week ago. Just hung.
I wound up cancelling, then at times waited for an hour, etc, etc.
 
Finally, the next day I was able to complete the download.
Sorry I could not offer a solution.
 

No, the problem is a hanging Bandlab assistant - better to download the latest update from the bandlab website rather than update.

To the OP’s problem, Try installing one at a time.
