What did you have in mind that you'd like to see Cxb do?

Actually I don't asking too much: I would like to see a new web page and a new forum and also be able to buy some addons. Indeed I would have preffered that Bandlab had waited until the migration process had finished. In terms of features I dream of buying fully integrated new hardware for Cakewalk (control surfaces, midi keyboards etc.).

How major do you expect the changes to be for free software?  Meng et al have stated they want progress, but what we've seen the last few months while they figure out what exactly they got when they bought Cake is small improvements and bug fixes.  And they haven't announced any big changes to come.  As much as BandLab wants to develop CbB they still have to run cost/benefits analysis and as stated elsewhere in this forum, the quickest method to raise money is to release the high-quality effects/synths (which some here have already been asking to buy) from Cakewalk while they tinker under the hood of SONAR.  Maybe when they pay down some of the debt they incurred they can think big, and be able to hire more bakers.

Another note is that that PR and some other staff positions have been taken over by BandLab, which should make CbB bottom line better by spreading those fixed costs among other assets.

Bandlab bought the Cakewalk assets only. They did not, according to Meng & Noel, absorb any of the "business" of Cakewalk, Inc. which would include debt.

I can understand you wanting them to wait, but considering the exodus of the most likely initial users already underway, getting product in hands of early adapters who mostly already had previous bundles made sense. Most already had previously bundled add-ons. The fully integrated hardware was never fully realized over the course of 30 years, so not likely to happen anytime soon for a free product. The closest was the Roland period. Best chance of that happening is if product becomes so overwhelmingly popular that third parties jump fully in and create one

I would love a new agreement with Roland for providing fully compatible hardware again since I heard that Meng is trying to bring back VS700 support. However, this sounds utopian and I will be content if the product becomes popular enough to third parties.

I meant whatever they paid for the "assets only." That has to be more than however much BandLab makes selling free software.

So long as Noel is involved, I have total faith in the direction that Cakewalk is going. Give it time and I'm sure that it will be refined to a high degree. It is still my "go to" DAW.

A13xhp have you tried Nektar controllers? They are inexpensive and map reasonably well to Cakewalk. They give you an install file for the mappings

AFAIK Noel has been involved with Cakewalk for almost two decades then... How Cakewalk is going to change now?
