I'll give them a listen if I get a chance later. If not remind me.

Currently got some blues rock on the brain so don't wanna crush the flow in it's infancy.

Now if I can just do my job.....

Tonight I promise.

Back on topic boys. Nothing to see here.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but as this is essentially not free content but part of the Sonar package, shouldn't this work be done by Cake and delivered in an update? It seems like they just made a mistake.

That content was done by third parties, and is presented as delivered. I did ask Noel whether it was possible to strip out the REX transient markers but it's not, nor can you strip out Stretch and other ReCycle settings - they're baked into the file. Of course if you did strip out the markers they wouldn't stretch, so they would need to be acidized.

Doing proper acidization of any file is time-consuming enough, but if Cakewalk was to repair all these files in ReCycle, then export, import into SONAR, and acidize the files, that would be a major task which would take a lot of hours, and SONAR's price would need to reflect that. Those files have been in SONAR forever; I don't know what the exact business deal was, but I suspect they didn't add anything to the price.

Yeah I wouldn't expect Cakewalk to fix them, they're clearly ancient history by now as far as free content goes. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the original Loopmaster sample pack to see what they sound like in there, however I don't feel like paying $40 or whatever....

However, for the vocal ones, some parts are salvageable, and others are not. Using the one that you posted in the other thread as an example (KV_KULDEEPAN_M_PHRAS_5_D_85.rx2), in addition to the pops/clicks on that which are fairly easy to fix, there is also transient "pulsing" between the slices (almost like the slices are intentionally pinching to zero amplitude before the next slice marker).

I tried to repair this file using the procedure referenced previously with ReCycle, and it works fine. When you hear things like "pulsing" between slices or echoes, that means the Stretch control in ReCycle was set too high, with the tradeoff being that if you set it too low, then the transition between slices becomes jarring.

REX files are really not meant for this kind of material; acidization is.

Do you think this is something I could do in Audition? I used Audition (the heal function)  to "sort of" fix another of the samples and it worked OK, although not ideal. It didn't work so well on the one I referenced however.

Part of the problem of that sample is the awful stereo effect - it sounds a lot better with just one of the channels put through the Waves Doubler.

I think the "awful stereo effect" is due to the excessive Stretch setting. Audition won't do the job for you.

I'll PM you with an alternate solution.

Ok, well I guess then it's just a terrible commercial for a company calling itself "Loopmasters".

How did you get an rx2 file to load in Audition, or did you render it in Sonar or something first ?

I just read that rx2 files use some proprietary encryption/compression so wouldn't expect them to be readable by an editor other than ReCycle.

I fixed the two files Sharke wanted. Anyone else who wants them can download them here. The link is good for 7 days or a certain number of downloads, whichever happens first.

I just bounced them to a wav and then loaded them into Audition. However my ham fisted attempts with Audition's heal tool were not a match for Craig's handiwork!
