Hello folks.
I dug out an old midi keybord I bought about 8 years ago bundled with Sonar LE for my kid to use.
Is it possible for the Edirol pc-50 to work on my current computer with Cakewalk Sonar LE if I am running Windows 7 64 bit?

Just thought maybe one of you guys could confirm (if you are still using) before I cause myself a lot of headache and bother trying to get these to run as they were both probably designed for 32bit XP.

Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to this forum. I do not have the setup you have, but I think you would be able to install it and get working. You might have to install drivers in compatibility mode, but other than that, I think you will be ok. Hope it helps. And if not, others may know better.
All the best.

There is a windows 7 64 driver for the Pc 50 so it should work without any ptoblems

I would guess that it will work. I have an Edirol PCR-300, which I believe is older still, and it works fine with Sonar running on  64-bit Windows 7.

Thanks for the welcome and thanks to all for taking the time to reply.

The version of LE that was bundled readme says 2005 but no updates seem available for download. I re-registered again last night but no update messages or mails have occurred.
I see from the cakewalk site that LE has obviously had a facelift since 2005. Wonder if my version is so out of date that I'm not entitled to the newest version.

It's not filling me with confidence that the prog will run properly without a lot of unforeseen problems.

I am a novice with this kind of thing (dabbled a long time ago and gave up due to things that just apparently refused to work) it's hard enough feeling your way in let alone to know by instinct that something is not working when it should.

I'll email support and see what they say about an upgrade or maybe try a simpler up-to-date freebie program.

cheers.

The free versions are what they are and not supported. There is never an update for LE. They just release newer versions as time goes along. I have X1LE. Far as I know they never release what was called X2 or X3.
Your versions best asset is you might be able to use it to get a big discount for the latest version.
LE versions are just very basic and I found it was mostly the missing plug ins that made it worthless to me. But I used it to upgrade which was a value of around $100 so not bad for free.

There are many free DAW's out there that will probably out perform Sonar LE 2005.
I would look into purchasing Sonar Artist. Or try the demo.
I got my Sonar LE with a Roland A 49, it's probably the newer version of yours.
The keyboard will always work with the MIDI port.
And USB drivers are still posted. They are probably the same ones I'm using.
