  • ProChannel presets?

Having recently upgraded to X1 Producer Expanded I have found that the Prochannel presets that ship with Sonar are gone. When I open the presets folder within Prochannel it takes me to AppData-Roaming-Cakewalk-SonarX1 Producer, wherein the other folders for drum maps, groove quantize files etc, reside, but there is no longer a ProChannel presets folder. I've done a general search of all drives for  *.*pcp and find nothing.
Any ideas what I might be missing, and how I might resolve this problem?

I'm running Windows 7, 3.2 ghz single core processor, 4 gb RAM, Delta 101LT soundcard.

Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

Hello there,

I know that all our installs are sightly different, depending on whether or not we accept defaults and stuff.

I've just had a look on my systems and all of my ProChannel presets are here:-

C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR X1 Producer\ProChannel Presets

I've had a look at my Preferences > File Locations settings, and I cannot see a location there for ProChannel presets, so I am not sure how to set that path, other than to browse there manually.

Has it worked before? And then just become "lost?"

cheers

I've had a look at both the help file and the Sonar X1 Reference Guide.

In the Reference guide, at the bottom of page 933, it says:-

ProChannel presets are saved to disk as *.pcp files. By default, presets are stored in the <SONAR
program folder>\ProChannel presets folder. To change to the default preset folder, go to
Edit > Preferences > File - Folder Locations.

And yet, when you go to Preferences > File > Folder Locations, you are unable to specify a folder for ProChannel presets. So it looks like it is something that Cakewalk was supposed to implement, but forgot.

I think I'll have a poke around the various INI files and stuff, to see if I can find a folder path elsewhere, although, once you have found where your presets are stored, and browsed to that folder in Sonar, it should remember it.

I thought that there would have been an INI file, or similar, that would contain all the program file paths that Sonar uses, but I've just spent the last twenty five minutes looking through all my cakewalk files and folders and I can't see anything that contains any path references.

sorry about that...

I think you don't have any choice but to reinstall.

Are you sure Jonesey? I mean, it's only the presets that are missing, according to the OP. As long as they can see the ProChannel, which they must be able to do going off what has been posted so far, the presets are just that... presets. So, providing that there is no breach in copyright, I could upload my ProChannel presets folder (which I have just zipped up to only 31 KB).

Still haven't heard back anyway, so perhaps they have managed to find them somewhere...

Over 3 years since last post in this thread, but I thought I'd add my 1.5cents anyway.
I'm in Sonar Platinum Newburyport.
I too have just noticed that there's no way in Edit/Preferences to point Sonar to the folder where I have my ProChannel presets. I don't like to keep data on my operating system drive (C:), so I have a "Cakewalk Content" folder structure on another drive. My ProChannel presets live in that folder. But Sonar Preferences doesn't give me any way to point there, for ProChannel presets. Sonar looks by default in a default folder on my C: Drive.
So I have to "manually" navigate to the "real" folder if I want to add a ProChannel preset in my project.
Not an especially huge deal, but it's a workflow-slower-downer and a bit annoying.
