... can we please have back the minute or two 'silent' edit grace period after creating a post in the forums.

Everyone makes the odd grammatical error or spelling mistake which we don't spot until we've actually submitted a post, and being able to edit those mistakes out without leaving the telltale 'edited' notification was a real boon of these forums.

Obviously we do need a short time limit on silent editing to make it obvious when someone has altered a post to completely change its meaning, but this is unlikely to be a factor in the minute or so following making the post.

Cheers.

I heartily agree.  Its feature I also miss. I should think two or three minutes grace should do the job.

Just a quick Q, I would have no preference either way myself, but I am just curious as to why it even matters ? I understand in the instance of someone changing a post in an underhanded manner, but just can't actually see how it matters otherwise ?

That sounds reasonable to me.
Steve, I think everyone knows you at all knows that being grammatically correct matters to you and if you make an edit for grammar, it is because of a typing error, I know it anyway. You are proper. I am verbose...

It could affect one's life.. https://hbr.org/2012/07/i-wont-hire-people-who-use-poo

(LOL... it isn't poo, it is poor grammar).

Some things matter to other people that don't matter you. We don't have to understand it, just respect it, it doesn't matter why. It does matter though.

Yes I do understand that, but if you take that to it's logical conclusion and apply it across the board with everyone, you wouldn't be able to do anything because no matter what it is, it would matter to someone.

I know where Steve is coming from, any author or editor knows that upon reviewing text, you'll often find something that wasn't stated clearly enough or had a typo, and make a correkshun. I don't see a problem with the "grace period" although I have no idea whether the current version of the software supports it or not.

The edit grace period is still there...  the issue is that one of the servers (the forum uses several) has a clock issue.

A Cake employee can reset it, but it only takes about a two weeks before its far enough out of sync to kill the edit grace period again.

Edit for a time check

The edit text read "post edited by Karyn - January 01, 16 0:19 PM" it was actually  0:07 AM when I did the first edit.

Re-edit to add :  HAPPY NEW YEAR

Then edit the post and we will give the grace!
