Just a quick Q, I would have no preference either way myself, but I am just curious as to why it even matters ? I understand in the instance of someone changing a post in an underhanded manner, but just can't actually see how it matters otherwise ?

In the past we have had a short period of time to edit a post we just made without the whole world knowing about it. If you have never had that or knew about it I can see it would not matter to you. At present we can't do any editing at all without it being noted even if it was within the same basic time of producing the post. It is a rather small thing to those that have never had an alternative but not so small to those that remember it.

I remember it....but if it concerns some...why not include WHY it was edited...even if for grammer.  Seems like the edited posts are in the 5+ page threads, ....which you know what usually happens in those.  Seems like it's kinda like you don't want the world to know you're wearing your T-shirt inside out!  ;-D

EDIT:...had my socks on the wrong feet and needed to switch...

I constantly have to edit my posts ...just got done having to do one just a min ago ...
The worst time I have to edit is when I use my Mac ...for some reason that thing likes to do a spell check where it changes not only the spelling but the actual meaning of the words I'm trying to say

Then edit the post and we will give the grace!

As long as we don't say grace ...

I know where Steve is coming from, any author or editor knows that upon reviewing text, you'll often find something that wasn't stated clearly enough or had a typo, and make a correkshun. I don't see a problem with the "grace period" although I have no idea whether the current version of the software supports it or not.

I agree. (But the bold text ,Craig Sorry!)
I do this all the time, as English is not my native language.
All the best.

No I knew about it, and I can recall reading threads about it on occasion, still never understood myself how or why it matters apart from the scenario I mentioned above. If you review your text, and find something wrong, spelling, grammar, an omission, you just correct it, why does it matter if it says post edited bla bla ? and perhaps if it is such a problem, why not take the extra time that you used to find the actual error after the fact, and apply it to before you hit the Submit Post button ? and if it is an omission, what is wrong with a separate post with the omission as an addendum ?

I just never understood the issue when reading the threads in the past, just curiosity, really have no issue either way, just curious as to what I am missing :)

I care about my gramma as well, great gramma actually, she is 106 years of age and doing well.

Anyway hope that for those it is an issue for get a satisfactory result.

I AGREE WITH OP......
It had happened to me and before I could edit someone are quoted and other became amused and requoted..
I edited my post but the quotes remained.
English is not my language. I typed wrong eventually misspelled and clicked ENTER..
The spelling was wrong for a simple word "where"

And again there I can't see the issue, in your case what does it matter if there is or isn't an edit time stamp ? the outcome remains the same ?

Harmony Central doesn't have the grace period. So when I edit something, if it's not significant, like a typo or something, I just let the little edit checkmark exist.

But, if it's something I said that needed a correkshun [Edit: I meant to say correctshun], then I'll put edit in brackets, and make the text red.
