Rapture is a great synth.. I have high hopes for 1.2.3

1.2.0 + 1.2.1 + 1.2.2 are really screwy for some odd reason.

1.0 never crashed! Although maybe it did in Sonar.. I was using mackis tracktion back then..  1.1 + was stable as a rock in Renoise and Ableton on Mac osx...

I never had any real problem with rapture until I came back to windows and bought sonar... Rapture is horribly unstable on my system, with Sonar..

Something is very wrong.. I hope they can find it for 1.2.3

Rapture = amazing synth.. Totally my fave

this is a rapture only issue right?

Well, this topic is about my Rapture issue. I am having a problem with some other things to, that hang X1, giving me a white shaded screen, and then crashing altogether. I bought Strum Electric and Strum Acoustic from AAS at the weekend. Strum Electric tended to crash as soon as I put it into "Powerchord" mode.

I think that I have to do a complete reinstall, starting right at the beginning with my OS. The thing is, I first tried to get Sonar 6 working, and for some reason it didn't behave. So I then installed the X1 Demo. I followed that up with full X1 Producer, by upgrading from Sonar 6 PE. And then I followed that up with Expanded, all the way to the X1D patch. So I am wondering it that messing about may have cause some issues.

A minor frustration is that all of my stand alone versions of my soft synths work fine and have never crashed. It is only when I use them within X1.

One thing I am pretty confident about is that Cakewalk are probably not going to be able to sort out my problems. There are so many other things to blame... even down to individual components of my laptop. I have done my best to stick with as much Intel componentry as possible, even down to the SSDs I have used. And my soundcard is a Roland product, who now "own" Cakewalk.

As an aside, I sent an e-mail the other day to a Cakewalk member of staff, and I have since received a reply. I'm not going to say to much about the content of that e-mail, but I will say that they appear to be struggling to cope with the amount of support calls and e-mails. That is a bit of a shame, in my opinion, because eventually, it may put some users off altogether, if some of the current bugs are not ironed out. Me and Cakewalk go way back, so I'm not considering a move any time soon, and I just have to hope that between myself, and the community here, and even Cakewalk, when they get time to chip in, that I can get out of X1 what I need, and my needs are pretty simple really...

Hi there,

First off I'm sorry, but I don't have any answers as to the problem at hand here. My experience though has been that a fresh install, including a fresh os install, usually is the way to go. I upgraded two days ago from SPE 8,5 and had heaps of trouble a plugins were troubled by old installs and there basically is to many folders, especially hidden ones that Cakewalk seems to love to use. So in short, I'm whishing you well on the reinstall and it might prove to be a significant improvement.
Now to my own selfish motive to reply to this thread :P I'm using just the rapture le version, have allready found out how to get the digital soundfactory samples to work (installer puts multisamples in system root rather then PF/CW/Rapture LE) , but I'm missing the standalone version. When using SPE 8,5 I updated RLE to 1.2.2 and was happy to find a icon on my desktop to launch RLE standalone.
Now with X1 however I don't have this and I can't find a file anywhere to open RLE standalone. I've tried running the 1.2.2 update, but that tells me RLE isn't installed. It is on my computer however and though it doesn't show in 'software' in my control panel, I can use it in sonar. Could the update maybe not work as I'm seeing the program is now called RLE32bit ? Is it still possible to use RLE standalone and if so, how can I accomplish that ?
I hope someone could enlighten me about this and for the rest my appologies for somewhat hijacking this thread. I mainly did this coz CW customer support sucks and this thread is at least active at the moment. So tnx in advance for any replies and good luck to everyone with the problems described here. Grtz

Rapture 64le certainly did not install as standalone for me (x1 producer expanded).. but you can use minihost for a 32 bit plugin, or cantabile lite (for 32 & 64 bit) ..as vst hosts.. both free...so its standalone with a wrapper :)

Hi Paul,

I'm afraid I can't help with your particular issue, as I upgraded to full Rapture, and I can now run it stand alone in its "microhost." My microhost is called "Rapture.exe" and does not refer to the fact that it is 32 or 64 bit.

Hi guys and tnx for your replies,

I guess the new Rapture LE (though same version as the SPE 8,5 one) indeed doesn't come with the 'microhost' I can't find a rapture.exe anywhere, too bad though as this was available before, after you'd manually update to 1.2.2 .
If I can't find another way to get it to work I will indeed think of using a 3d party microhost and try minihost or cantabile so tnx for that tip as I knew about them, but had long forgotten the names.
Anyways, my issue is somewhat resolved so again tnx and good luck with all your productions and hope you can reduce the crashing issue to a minimum .... grtz

It appears that I was still using the slightly older version of Rapture. I updated my version to 1.2.2 last night and I ran multiple instances of Rapture, all driven with Step Sequencer and X1 has not crashed yet. So I am logging this as solved for now.

Thanks to Cakewalk tech support who e-mailed me the link to download the required install file
