If I insert a midi track but do not use a track template, loop midi immediately mutes because of the OMNI input status of the midi track. And I get a message about the feedback.
So then I have to select a physical midi port and unmute loopmidi.

NONE should mean NONE, and not change to Omni.

This has been asked for forever and we always get some answer about convenience or some such.

NO INPUT should mean NO INPUT.

1) Make sure you are on X3E.
2) Edit -> Preferences -> Playback and Recording. Untick "Always echo current MIDI track".

Thank your for your response.

Although this is a "FIX" the input dialog for MIDI should be the same as for audio.  NONE should mean NONE.

Adding another choice, "use preferences,: is more reasonable than NONE means NONE maybe.

I put in a feature request for this at least three years ago.

You're right, "none" should indeed mean "none".
