Has anyone tried/used one of the Icon control surfaces with Sonar?   Its supposed to have a Mackie mode.  They list several compatible DAW's but not Sonar.

Here is one of their units on American Musical Supply

I'm still looking for a replacement for my flakey BCF2000.  Behringer has a new model, but its been over a year and it has not been released.  Looks like "Vaporware".

I purchased a QCon Pro to use with Sonar Platinum.  After 3 weeks of trying to configure the unit and a number of calls and emails to ICon, I had to return the unit.  Even though ICon say that it is possible to configure the QCon Pro to work with Sonar in their description on the website, in reality it is not possible.  At Musikmesse 2015 ICon showcased the G2 QCon which again they have stated that it will work with all major DAWs.

The Behringer X Touch apparently is close to release, maybe that could be a better option.  Failing that and you have the money try the Mackie Control Universal Pro.  The Mackie is definitely Sonar compliant.

(original question was asked long time ago )

"in reality it is not possible" is not completely true. One of the users has modified Mackie plug-in so it works with QCon. And there are other options. Note that Behringer X, once delivered, is going to work throw exactly the same plug-in as Mackie, the one you have tried for QCon. Either Behringer has better success implementing Mackie specification is an open question (as you have found already, ICon has failed there).
