Personally I would like to see it appear as part of a new suite of song arranging features to facilitate the creative process. To me the mark of a great program is one which feels like an extension of your brain. Being able to say "move that section there, swap out this with this, get rid of this, try this here instead of here" and see it happen almost as the ideas come to us would be amazing.

Yes! There's been requests to have colored sections along the top of the track view in the marker area. If we had that, and could click and drag those around, or right-click and delete or copy ...

I think we're really entering a golden age of ease of use with creative software, especially in terms of the way the process is abstracted for user simplicity. I'm just starting the process of building a new website for my business and I bought a premium Wordpress theme called X which includes a page builder called Cornerstone as a plugin. After having hand designed sites with HTML and CSS and even trying to use the WYSIWYG style editing of Dreamweaver, this little baby is a huge revelation for me. You can put together the most complicated modern layouts by laying out sections which you can drag and drop in the "arrangement" window and then divide and subdivide how you like. It's such a smooth, intuitive process which really makes layouts an absolute breeze to play with. I've just been zipping around Cornerstone now and thinking how awesome it would be if you could lay out a song arrangement that easily with Sonar. I know audio is a lot more complicated than web design but still....food for thought.

Apologies, but I can't do what I'd planned for the tip of the week. I spent two full days this week on [a feature for an upcoming release I can't talk about], and then had to explain to the LANDR-bashers why it's a good idea to educate clients because apparently, they didn't realize that educated clients make professional mastering engineers happy, and LANDR can help educate those clients even if you never use it to master their music. Between those two things I used up all my available Cakewalk time, and can't pursue this any further than I had.

It's been a 15-hour workday, I'm tired, and it's late, so either Tip of the Week is canceled this week, or I'll do an alternate this weekend.

Craig, seriously, you've devoted so much constructive and creative trouble-shooting time to this particular endeavor, there's no need to apologize. This bug/needed feature/workaround is important and more important than a tip of the week for the sake of doing a tip of the week.

1 vote for rest, sleep, clear  your head, and free yourself of this week's tip. And when ready, dive back in to this issue and see where it goes.

Just my vote...
Much gratitude to you and all those adding really valuable input in this thread,
Chamlin
